It's amazing what God has created in only 6,000 years.

Pushing down my inner Jesus. Pushing down my inner Jesus.
I kid. Being a old earth Creationist and Micro Evolution believer makes this just cool more than anything else.
So. If somebody pokes a hole in the crust to let the sub ocean out would it flood us?

Gen 1:6 Then God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters."
Gen 1:7 God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so.

No I don't think so. It is interesting that it said that a lot of old pieces of the earths surface are there, so theoretically in a billion years or some length of time, we could be in a place similar to water world.
Also Jesus likes to party.

The results suggest there could be a vast store of water in the mantle transition zone, which stretches from 254 to 410 miles (410 to 660 km) deep.

"It translates into a very, very large mass of water, approaching the sort of mass of water that's present in all the world's ocean,"
It would seem to me that this estimated volume of water in the Earth's mantle would be significantly larger than the volume of the oceans

Why would you say that, I think the water they are talking about is between the true mantle and the crust.

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened. And rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights. (Genesis 7:11, 12 ESV)
The Flood story also has a great deal of water coming up out of the earth - "all the fountains of the great deep burst forth."
Hmmm. How did the ancient Israelites know that there was an ocean of water below the earth's crust?
Must be a coincidence.

The article states that there is a vast store of water in the mantle transition zone, which is between 240-400 miles deep; 160 miles thick. The deepest part of any ocean is roughly 7 miles...so even if the mantle transition layer contains only 15-20% water (which seems conservative given the "vast store" estimate) that has to be significantly greater than the volume of the oceans, even with the smaller circumference.

From the article:
There is not an ocean of water as most people would perceive it. Technically there is water but it's bound up. There is water even in meteorites.
quote:
The ringwoodite is 1.5 percent water, present not as a liquid but as hydroxide ions (oxygen and hydrogen molecules bound together).
