The starting pitching isn't terrible, Beeks is legit as expected, I think Poche will be alright, Oliver and Killian too. The bullpen is meh.

Our bats are as bad, if not worse, than last season. Somehow. Maybe it's just early and they'll get going, but with how loaded the SEC is and how badly they're struggling with some bad teams, it doesn't look good.

This very well may be the first time since 2001 we do not make the NCAA Tournament.

I've said it before that I don't think Van Horn is the right man to get us where we want to be. I think he is a very good coach, just not a great coach. I don't think Van Horn can ever win a National Championship, I think his ceiling was 2012 College World Series run.

Last years preseason #1 team, who DVH said was his best team ever, was a complete failure and disappointment. Bowing out as a 2 seed in the first round. This year may see us miss the NCAAT altogether, rebuilding or not we have never missed the NCAAT and we've had numerous rebuilding years under DVH.

We've sank a lot of money into the baseball program, currently sinking more in an indoor practice facility no other school has.

I'm just concerned that the program has stalled, we've reached our ceiling under DVH. Just not sure I like where the program is headed.

Who knows, maybe we turn it around this year and make a run, I just don't see it in the SEC. Team looks a lot like last year, minus the great pitching.

#hotsportstakes

We've lost 4 games. Two 2-1 games, one 4-3 and one 5-3.

We just need clutch, timely hits when we get runners on.

To pretty bad teams.

Scoring 1-2 runs on bad teams' #2 and #3 starters when the SEC is LOADED, is concerning.

The hitting is probably worse than last year, and we don't have the pitching to get by like last year.

I haven't watched y'all, but is CVH tweaking and experimenting with different Iine ups? I know we've had different combinations for every game so far. It's still awfully early yet, but sometimes these early games, (pre-sec) are confusing and sorta frustrating.

Shite man, every program we have has questionable direction. Has there been a more challenging time to be a Hog fan?

We just lost the 2nd game because we hit a runner in the back in the middle of a rundown between 3rd and home and he scored

just not our year so far

Yeah, that's not good, and from what little I've seen, I've thought the same.

with a "consistent starting" lineup? it'll smoothe out a bunch.

I would say that I really believe the Hawgs will start swinging the bats better (can't get much worse). The positives are that we are hanging around in all our games... With SEC play coming, it's like start the season fresh.

Too soon to give up on them.

Van Horn has had worse teams he has taken to a regional in his tenure.

I don't think the SEC is as strong as most years.

yea for the most part

Benintendi
Serrano
Anderson
Spoon
Wilkerson
McAfee

have been in every lineup

platoon at 3rd with Bernal and Wernes

Baxendale has been getting some at-bats at 1st and catcher with Fisher/Wise struggling

When i look at these guys they're all really talented hitters IMO. It's like when one gets hot the others stop...don't really have an explanation why our hitting sucks as bad as it does
