He was released by the Vikings yesterday, and then theres this from an NFL guy on twitter

"Ex-Vikings WR Greg Childs passed through waivers unclaimed.

The "risk" to put in a waiver claim would've been his scheduled bare-minimum salary of $570,000 with no guarantees, so the fact that he fetched zero interest suggests the NFL has thrown in the towel on Childs. With bad knees and no catches through two pro seasons, Childs' career is likely over before it began."

Really hate it for him...he was such a beast his sophomore and half of his junior year. I'd love it if he could end up as a WR coach here one day

Damn. That 2010 auburn game showed his true potential. Kid could have been a good nfl wr. Feel bad for him....

That's a shame. Hopefully he invested/saved a good portion of his rookie contract.

I don't care what numbers Jarius and Cobi put up here. Childs was the best Hogs WR in my lifetime if not the best ever.

It's amazing to me that none of Childs, Hamilton or Adams can stay on an NFL roster with how good they were here. Of course Childs has a good excuse but it shows how small the margin for error is in the NFL. Wright is doing good though.

I know Hamilton is still with the bengals but he is pretty buried on the depth chart. I really wish Adams would get another shot...don't know why teams don't at least give him another chance

I wouldn't say the best. I'd put him behind Monk but of course thats just imo.

I was beyond drunk last night when I typed that one. I imagine it was an autocorrect on my iPhone.

Damn that really sucks. Hopefully he gets a chance at some workouts this summer. Not many people in the world have the determination he does.

fricking Petrino..

Some of you probably know this, but Child's wasn't ready to come back his senior year. The bad knee still being bad, weakened his other knee.

Pisses me off. Petrino also ruined Michael Smith. If any of you know Michael, ask him some time.

His 1st knee injury was when he shouldn't have been in the game.. no need to being throwing bombs late in the 4th on Vandy up by 20.
