Now last year, I've watched maybe 4-7 Auburn games and clearly, Marshall is almost never in a situation where he ACTUALLY had to pass the ball. Don't get me wrong, he has made some great plays with his arm, such as the one in the Iron Bowl, but will it be enough?

Marshall was 142-239 for 1,926 yards with 14 touchdowns to 6 interceptions; and ran for 1,068 yards with 12 touchdowns last season.

I know Auburn may rely on the pass a little more this year since Mason and Robinson are headed to the NFL, but can Marshall win the Heisman with his arm?

No.

However, it will be interesting to see if he develops as a passer. He is better than most give him credit for, but still has tons of room for improvement.

He was only in the offense for a few weeks before the season started. I am hopeful that a full season, plus a full off season in the offense, plus a better receiving corps will result in noticeable improvement in his passing abilities. However, he could just be a a really good athlete that will never be more than a decent QB.

Mett threw for only 12-7 in 2012 and made a huge leap in year 2. Now I don't think he's going to be as good of a passer as Mett but it's not a huge stretch to see him throw for 20-25 TDs and keep his interception numbers low. That's all he'll need to do with how well the run the ball.

Marshall win the Heisman?

That is just about as far fetched as you can get. I suppose it's possible with tGusBus but still.

Your offense doesn't work that way because you had Tre Mason running the rock. But in all seriousness, you can't tell me you expect him to win it running . I mean let's just face it, that's not going to happen

He is the only QB to complete a pass to himself last year. Chew on that for a bit.

No.

But he can win the Heisman with his arm plus legs.

if you mean a RB running the ball, yes you are correct. if you mean specifically TM, then you would be wrong

I think Marshall already improved in the month between the SEC championship and national championship. He had over 200 yards passing and two touchdowns against FSU.

AU actually won a few games last year where a TD strike was required by Marshall to win it. He made clutch plays with his arms when needed.

In just about every Heisman prediction thread I've read in about in the last 2-3 months, he's in there! He's on ESPNU in their "Way Too Early Heisman Hopefuls". I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only seeing how he'd have to improve to get that.

Is it really? Talk about an exaggeration.

Key word. Dak Prescott is a hopeful at this point too. To move from hopeful to contender they both have to improve their passing.

Which is what I've stated earlier. I never said he COULDN'T throw, what I stated was, would it be ENOUGH for him win the heisman.

His numbers last year compared pretty favorably to the Heisman runner up, so with a little improvement it isn't hard to envision a scenario where he is in the conversation.

Cam Newton led the SEC in rushing during his one year at Auburn. A big part of the reason he won the Heisman. Marshall had over eleven hundred yards rushing last year. He cant win the Heisman strictly with his passing, but he could with his combination of running and passing

Overpowering running attacks do that.
