Johnny Manziel signs with Nike
quote:

Financial terms were not disclosed, but sources told ESPN.com that it's a multiyear deal that will be the highest price paid for a rookie in this year's class. Manziel's team negotiating the deal included LeBron James' business manager, Maverick Carter, and Fenway Sports Group.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office currently is evaluating the application filed by an organization in College Station, Texas, which claims "Johnny Football" does not refer to a living person. Manziel, who filed the application later on, obviously claims otherwise.

Apparently that "organization" is an Ag.
May karma kick in.

From a poster on another site:
quote:

So, Kenneth R Reynolds of Kenneth R Reynolds family investments is still claiming ownership of the Johnny Football™ for Video Games, Footballs and specific apparel. He just filed a notice that "Johnny Football" does not refer to a particular person.

This guy is an Ag. Anyone know him? This is ludicrous. Makes us look ****ty IMO.

I would hope that someone in the USPTO will recognize how ridiculous this is. If "Johnny Football does not identify a particular living individual", there'd be absolutely no reason to fight that trademark!

Now on sale: Johnny Football jerseys, which have nothing to do with any particular living individual.

I'd like to think the examiner will be smart enough to go "lol no" and reject that, but nobody ever went broke underestimating the USPTO. But if it does get published his lawyers will oppose and invalidate it faster than he can run a 40.
