I'm not saying you're wrong, but providing some numbers for us to look at would go a long way in helping me understand how this is possible.

Agreed, as they should.

I was under the impression that this was common knowledge? I'll be happy to run the numbers though.

We were 38th in FY 2012(haven't seen 2013 numbers yet) @ a shade below $70 mil/yr.

Our stadium expansion will bring in about $7-$10 mil per year additional funding overall. I've been through the numbers before on that -- but will go through them again if need be.

The bowl restructuring is going to bring us an extra $5-7 million(conservatively). Hell, just the Sugar Bowl will pay the SEC teams almost $3mil each.

The SECNetwork is going to be worth $30 mil per team when it reaches saturation point. For argument's sake -- let's say it only brings 40% of that in year 1 -- or $12 mil. And we will ignore the increase in our tier2 contract with ESPN -- which is rumored to be $5-7million in it's own right...

So, applying what we'll call "the pessimistic amount", that's an extra $24 million next year, which makes us about a $94million athletics dept. That would put us between Oregon and Michigan St at #17 based on 2012's numbers.

Of course, bowl revenue is going up for other conferences as well. Not as much as the SEC -- but you still have to account for it. And naturally, this monetary gain isn't likely to make us jump any of the SEC teams in front of us. Making 25th overall seems like a nice, well-rounded number that isn't over the top with the prediction. Either way -- we're a $100mil athletics dept by 2015...

Should be able to write in about anyone wanted with that type of budget change. I'm with Engie, the $$ should be there when the time does come. Calling for his head mid season year 2 is still knee-jerk though.

Thanks, man.

I really wasn't trying to imply you were wrong, I honestly had no idea we could make that type of jump but given your info it seems plausible.

It really does cause you to reexamine everything you think you know about MSU from a different lens when you put a pencil to the numbers...

It isn't mid year, the season is over. I don't see the improvement coming next year to change my mind. I hope he does and will be the first to pull the post back up and rectify it when that happens.

I want the golf coaching job or at the least bus driver.

I'll take that. The pay would be shite but the perks would still be pretty nice.
