So this Lent I decided to give up one of the things I love the best ...my Crimson Tide Football. No A day, no Rant, no reading about it or talking about it.
I don't think I have ever gone 40 hours without some mention of Bama football, much less 40 days.
So see you guys in April. Someone please take notes for me.

Yeah, it's not like he's obssed with Bama or the rant like some of these crazy posters here. This is just something small and easy to give up for Lent.

It sounds like he's obsessed with Bama football to me. He has to give up other peoples accomplishments to bring himself closer to god. Other people that celebrate usually give up something more real.

Good for you. Spend this time getting closer with God.

Ironically you will learn he is a Bama fan.

Not at all. For some reason I'm still surprised how so many Bama fans live vicariously through 18-22 year olds accomplishments. It's my fault though. I shouldn't expect much from most of them.

I get where you're coming from, but honestly I think everone here on both the rant, TD, and the saints and pelicans board is a BIT obsessed with their favorite teams. Otherwise we wouldnt be on here everyday.

I mean I love my alma mater, and I love the football team. I read this shite hole and BOL everyday. But when one is giving up Bama football to supposedly bring themselves closer to god,
I think that person is a little Updykeish

shite, I was just going to try to run every day. I'm a much bigger fan of trying to improve something about yourself over lent rather than giving up something.

I think you're being a bit harsh. It's a distraction he is giving up. Kudos to him how about we all give up meat except fish because that doesn't count and doesn't distract us at all.

So what's your pick for something appropriate to give up in order to get closer to God? Because the only obvious answers that suggest themselves to me are "Satanism" followed closely by the all-important "meat (not including tasty fish and lobster) on Fridays."
