Dabo says 4 #Clemson players suspended for opening game: David Beasley, Shaq Anthony, Garry Peters, Corey Crawford

Dabo emphasizes no arrests for those players, but they broke a team rule. That'll really hurt for Crawford, a starting DE from Columbus, Ga.

CLEMSON — Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney announced at his pre-spring press conference Tuesday that four players will sit out the 2014 opener at Georgia.

Defensive end Corey Crawford, offensive tackle Shaq Anthony, offensive guard David Beasley and cornerback Garry Peters have been suspended for the Aug. 30 trip to Athens for a violation of team rules. Swinney emphasized none of those players were arrested.

“They didn’t rob a bank,” Swinney said, “but they broke a team rule.”

It’ll especially hurt for Crawford, who started all 12 games last year starting with the home game against the Bulldogs, from his native state. Crawford will be a senior out of Columbus, Ga., whose 10.5 tackles for loss ranked fourth on the Tigers last year.

Beasley played in all 13 games last year, starting seven at left guard. Anthony played in 10 games and started three at right tackle, while Peters appeared in 10 games as a reserve cornerback.

“A huge part of our program is teaching accountability, responsibility and that there are consequences for your actions,” Swinney said. “These are four good young men, but they broke a team rule and as a result, they will each miss a game. I am hopeful that they will learn and grow from this and have a great 2014 season on and off the field.”

Apparently these are all potential starters. Crawford and Anthony are especially big

Nice.

This is how everyone else must feel when they play us first it's nice.

What's that delusional Clemson board from last year?

These are clem5on's 4 best returning Defenders....

Anyone heard who the Agent/Runner was that got them in trouble? I'm 90% sure that is what this is. These guys havn't been in trouble for drugs before, and they are literally their most draft-able defenders next year.

ETA: wait, it's the OL Shaq Anthony, not their LB STephone Anthony.

So they lost 3 of their best Defenders and their starting RT.

ETA again....
Dammit, my whole post is shite now, it was David Beasley no Vic Beasley....he's an OL.

frick it, I'm still leaving it up, but now I think it's drugs. 2 of the guys were key defenders last year, 1 was going to be their RT and David was their RG. Whatever, they lose 4 starters for the game and their all on meth.

Kudos to Dabo. If it was SCe the Old Ballsack would sit them the games after UGA. He won't suspend anyone for that game! You shot someone at 5 Points, your sitting out 4 games, after the UGA game!

This will help us for the first game. Let's see how many Dawgs will be out for the first game.
