If every team put their best efforts in basketball would we be the GOAT conference? (Coaching, recruiting, ect.)

Yes, it is. The nation thinks we suck horribly at basketball. The truth is, we just suck at basketball...not horribly, just an average suckage.

I don't think effort is necessarily the reason. Hell look how deep the women's side is. For one reason or another most teams of the SEC just aren't that good.

Depends, where are we rated?

It's pretty bad.

UK
UF
TEN
ARK
MIZZ
OM
BAMA
ect

Actually played coached and recruited to their potential?

The coaching gap between the B1G and SEC in basketball is just as wide as it is the other direction in football.

The only reason why people think the SEC sucks is because everyone is so inconsistent outside of the elites. You never know what the frick you are gonna get on any given night in this conference.

That being said, I think a lot of these teams can compete with the best in the country if they come to play.

This. If some of the better teams in the league would avoid the bad losses on the road we would be alright.

A couple teams actually have some pretty good OOC resumes.

Agreed. I don't think it's a talent disparity, it's a coaching disparity.

I think we are under rated...look the Big Ten, they aren't that good. Ohio State fell to Penn State tonight...major suckage.

The SEC is tough and road games are all out war. Except at Rupp...(j/k j/k) AU gave UF a battle home and away. We've beaten on each other.

It's somewhere between coaching and inconsistent officiating.

Arkansas railroaded Minnesota earlier this year.

This.

I think it's a scheduling issue with alot of teams. Most of the SEC teams have weak OOC schedules. This hurts the bubble teams when it comes selection time.

Tennessee also destroyed the possible ACC champ in Virginia

Kentucky beat Louisville who will probably win their conference

Mizzou has a couple good wins out of conference IIRC

Mike Slive actually addressed this. He hired someone to help SEC teams improve their OOC scheduling.

Absolutely this. I think SEC teams have a lot of either size or athleticism, so on a good night they can play way up. It also makes us prone to very poor nights.
