They believe their own hype. They think they're all working the gang unit in South Central. So 5 cops suffocate a guy in Oklahoma who gets into an argument with his wife. A woman cop shoots a kid in Georgia when he answers the door. A cop shoots a vet with PTSD whose family called them for help. And a cop shoots a schizophrenic 90 pound kid in North Carolina who may or may not have had a screwdriver.

And those are all from this year.

Eta: Here's the problem:

quote:

“The situation is very unfortunate,” Faris said, reading from a statement at a news conference. “It does appear, at this time, that Deputy Knox’s actions were an appropriate response to what he reasonably believed to be an imminent threat to his life.”

Lol. Being an idiot doesn't mean that your life was really in danger. Private citizens don't get to shoot people who are getting canes out of their truck. Police officers shouldn't. And I'm sure I have friends who know this officer in York County.

Obviously more guns in society would have prevented this. An armed society is a polite society after all.

Sigh. He will get 2 weeks paid leave and that's it. Are you a cop? Want a free vacation? Shoot an innocent civilian.

Reach. Good effort though.

More guns will be needed to protect us from the police state which is coming.

Yes to both of those. Anyone up for getting shot?

So I guess as long as you say that you thought your life was in danger you can shoot anyone you want.

If you're a cop. That is an important caveat.

The good news is that Terrance got to go home last night. Safe and sound. That's really all that matters.

1. More blacks, as a percentage of the Florida demographic makeup, have used and successfully used the "stand your ground" defense than whites.
2. You're far more likely to be prosecuted for shooting another person, even when you're in fear for your life, as a citizen than as a police officer.

This officer will face no charges. A citizen in the same situation would undoubtedly face some sort of criminal charge.

There's a reason we're supposed to stay in our vehicles and put our hands where the cop can see them when pulled over.
This kind of cop is the reason.
