How would the "10-second rule" affect MSU?

Haven't seen a lot of discussion on it because, frankly, we are a fence team. At times we have used a hurry up scheme but generally not. What does the grind rant think this does to our team? Will we benefit, does it slow us down when we need to mix it up, or no effect at all?

I personally think that we are one of the better equipped defenses for defending the HUNH. From all indications Collins was brought in to counter it when more teams started going to a faster pace. We are deep on the D-Line and swap it up a lot at LB, Wells specifically gives us the flexibility to adjust when subbing isn't an option. I'm not saying that we benefit from it; however, I do think we are at a lesser disadvantage than some other teams.

In my mind, having to line up against Bama or LSU without control of pace is a bad thing. The rule definitely eliminates, to an extent, the creativity and expertise of both OC's and DC's.

Another question I have is, what part of this rule prevents counter substitution? Who is to say that the offense can't sub with more than 10 seconds removed from the clock, after the defense has already made substitutions in the first 10 seconds?

offensively it doesn't affect as at all. we've never really been a HUNH team.

I don't think it really affects any time in the country, on either side of the ball.

How did we do against the teams that like to play really fast?

OSU - They beat us, but we held them in check. The problem was our offense.
Auburn - Beat us at the end of the game. Damn prevent defense.
Troy - Crushed them.
Ole Miss - Beat them. No offensive TDs.

I used last year's games because I can't predict the future.

I don't think it is much of an issue. Most QB's we play are going to spend a bit of time trying to figure out if Chris Jones is in the game and where he is lining up before they take the snap.
