I think they sell or allow you to byob in suites and other areas not accessible to the general public, but is it against SEC rules? Anyone know?
If it is legal how long until it happens and can we trust students not to drink themeselves retarded?

I thought it was a school rule.

Unless we're talking about Vandy, this already happens.

LSU has stated if someone else pulls the trigger we'll consider it. We just dont want to be first. So someone else needs to go ahead and bite the bullet.

Does this not already happen?

As backwoods religious as Mississippi is, I could 100% see MSU being the first to do this. I have been kind of expecting to see the idea kicked around for a while. Not sure on state laws regarding schools though since it is a public university.

There are no rules against it.
It is an agreed upon stance from the universities not to do it.
There is no rule stopping any of us from selling alcohol at our stadiums.

Re students drinking themselves retarded, in the area around my seats, at mid field, I see tons of adults drunk before they even take their seats pre game. And get progressively worse. UNO & the weenies have been doing it for yrs, ULLLL did it either last yr or the yr before, and no one seems to have killed anyone..yet.

I mean, it's not "legal" but Ole Miss has gotten pretty lax about checking for alcohol in the student section. If you're anywhere else outside of the student section they don't even bother checking.

I understand it. Its college. Many kids are underage. The school could be in big trouble if it is caught selling alcohol to minors

I brought in three cans of beer to the iron bowl for post game celebration. They dont check non student sections either in AU

Same as any stadium, however the more liability is serving to someone who has over-consumed. Thats what schools are more afraid of

Cowbells helped so much at State. During the late Sherrill years we couldn't bring them in and he basically made sure that they didn't check anyone for anything. Now they check purses but my fiancé had attendants see her flask and joke with her at multiple games before they let her carry it in without bother.

FWIW, driving in to work today I was listening to Austin radio and apparently Texas is going to start allowing beer and wine at sports this Spring on a trial basis. If that works without incident I am sure they will start putting in to football in the Fall soon. Of course if it works for them it is much more likely A&M will follow suit at some time in the future.
I think it is inevitable. There will likely be lots of rules and regs that go with it (Beer Stands in the alumni section but not student section, no beer sales after halftime/3rd Quarter, etc.) but at some point it's going to happen.
It actually hurts the minor sports more imo. Baseball is SO much better just sipping on a beer. Sure, you can sneak in a flask but baseball is just meant for relaxing with brew and a dog.
