I mean having a pampered happy Bulldog as a mascot is one thing but, having a flock of eagles and an American Bald Eagle specifically is quite another in some peoples eyes including the one below.

That queen B is coming after the Gus bus!

“Carting an eagle back and forth and subjecting the animal to a boisterous and deafening football crowd for hours at a time has nothing to do with school spirit and everything to do with disregarding the basic protections that these birds are afforded under federal law,” says PETA Foundation Director of Captive Animal Law Enforcement Delcianna Winders. “Boston College just flunked Ethics 101 by teaching students that it’s fine to exploit, disrespect, and terrify animals—while flouting the law.”

Maybe Auburn should adopt a 1984 mustang GT as its new mascot.

I'm sure their fanbase could easily make the transition in no time at all.

i thought this already happened and PETA was the reason we removed the eagle from the netting/cage by the football feild becuase the branches weren't wide enough in diameter.

PETA is outspoken against what they consider cruel breeding. This basically encompasses any animal that wouldn't breed and survive naturally, aka bulldogs. They are less bigots about having animals in captivity than the specifics that they consider cruel in theory.

I think its funny that they despise the breeding of lines like the bulldog or poodle but are 100% behind saving the useless arse panda that won't frick to save its own race. Not to mention Pandas are omnivores that have evolved into herbivores, and since bamboo isn't dense enough with nutrients they literally just eat and sleep all day because thats all their diet can support.

Regardless PETA is a joke, frick em.

End rant on PETA and Pandas.

But really, frick Pandas.

they already have, its a continued effort. but every school with a live mascot has had to deal with PETA on more than one occasion

I am still waiting on the robot Uga, personally

In all honesty the thread holds a duel purpose and is a little deep for the floor sweeper nyc feller.

found this story while checking out the Uga wiki page... obviously an auburn fan

quote:

Butch and Tuffy – 1947–48 (both), 1948–51 (only Butch) – Butch and Tuffy were brindled English Bulldogs owned by Mabry Smith of Warner Robins, Georgia. Smith agreed to loan the dogs to the University for use as mascots after bringing them to the 1946 Georgia Tech game (which was the final game of the 1946 regular season). Tuffy died of a heart attack after the 1948 Kentucky game, but Butch served by himself until he was shot and killed by a Warner Robins policeman while roaming the streets in the summer of 1951 after escaping from his pen.

Did you know Ben Franklin wanted our national bird to be the turkey? And we eat those! I don't see the problem with letting an eagle fly around a stadium.

Health, monitoring, and architectural development were all reasons the old eagles cage was removed. Do you remember when they detained all the students after the Florida game in the eagles cage?
