Figured I'd drop this here and start it off. First practice is Friday and DJ Double R will be on hand to emcee the event. Believe we're doing the 3 practice per week thing with a spring break in the middle so spring ball will go on forever again. I'll try to find the practice schedule and add it in.

So the position battles to watch

- QB obviously. It will get the most news but Spav said the plan is to let them go til about 2 weeks before the season and he expects a 3-way battle til then
- RB. How will they be split and who will be the primary guy. My guess is a lot of rotation like this year but someone will emerge
- WR. Kennedy is the only starter returning.
- RT. The OL may move around some to get the best 5 on the field. But RT is the obvious hole right now
- SAM. It's a black hole. Really how the LBs end up is a big questions but for now I'm assuming Mastro/Claiborne
- Secondary. New coach, new scheme potentially new positions

Anyone have thoughts on these or other battles they are watching?

Obviously everyone is going to talk about QB but this is a big one if we are indeed going to be running more. I have high hopes for Trey this year

RB. I'm quite hopeful that Trey is a beast this year.

DE - we know Stansbury is the starter at sde, but does Julien move back to strongside or stay at rush?

DT - who is the backup at nose if Golden goes down or is suspended? Does Manning start at DT?

I know I saw it on twitter a day or two ago but I can't seem to find it.

My big question is who is providing the pass rush?

I'm very interested to see if Hall has put on some weight. If he can get North of 240 he's going to be much more effective. He needs to get a firm hold of that job in the Spring if he wants a chance of holding it once Garrett and Cunningham hit campus in the Fall. Even then I don't think anything stops Garrett from winning that job except injury.

Thus the question is how the other 4 positions flush out. I'm just glad we have some options though I am very frustrated with Golden for being a dumbass.

Did we ever get his punishment? I was hoping for something SEC-creative like "benched for the first half of the first game on Texas soil."

they play different positions most likely. Manning is a perfect 3-tech. He may still not be there though. Walker likely starts in place of Golden. The coaches love Walker. Flipping Henderson looks more important as well as that's where he'll go.

Last spring we had 2 DTs participate (Zo Williams and Points). I think it had a lot to do with why we ran so many 3-man fronts this year. We just didn't have the depth in the spring to run a normal defense. Even if Golden sits out, we have Walker and Henderson at NT and Robinson, Williams, and Manning at 3-tech. And that's without having to move Arnold inside. Hopefully that shows in the fall.

Most likely we won't hear what it is. I can't remember but it seems like we went all the way til August before Sumlin announces Kirby was sitting out vs Rice for this Ike Clanton impersonation.

Is my fear that the AD might force a harsher punishment than Sumlin would want to enforce (like ANYTHING that has them miss all or part of the USC game) rational in your opinion?

I have this image of our AD being Mr. Killjoy.

Can you imagine the conspiracy theories that will erupt?

The hate for Hyman is rather puzzling to me. I'm as pro legalization as you are going to find. But at the end of the day, they got arrested. I'm happy that we aren't seeing worse arrests (ie things i give a shite about like assault, theft, rape and the like that most schools deal with), but these were still arrests.

Do you honestly feel like no punishment is warranted here?

The hate for Hyman stems from the multiple suspensions at the beginning.
