I don't have any hatred towards anyone because I don't take the internet seriously.

I did it because I've decided not to stress about the recruiting process too much, especially when they are juniors giving out their commitments.

The running threads here are enough, and much of the same info is here too without the pricetag.

I thought the guy should have had to issue an apology, but that's about it. The malice people went after this guy with is crazy. I don't think I could ever be ok with intentionally getting some guy fired because he made a comment on FB that I found offensive.

That guy got himself fired with little to no help from TexAgs. Part of the job of an assistant athletic director is to manage PR. This was a massive failure of judgement on his part. This wasn't the only questionable Facebook post he dropped. He had to learn the hard way that when you are representing a major institution you don't get to say whatever the hell you want in public without repercussions. It also probably did not help his cause with his boss that TCU is one of the few Big 12 schools that has been actively discussing with A&M the possibility of a series. Insulting potential partners is about one of the dumbest things you could do in business.

Wait, why would we do that? Why give them a platform to compete for recruits?

Dude y'all gotta get over shite like that

If you are scared that playing a team gives them a platform you are have already lost the recruiting battle with them.

Anyway, its b/c it would be a P5 game against a school we have a long history with that many a fan would get excited for. (and I'm well aware of the vocal minority here that hates all things Big 12/any other Texas school that wants a home and home but that's what they are, the minority.)

On top of that, we still need to work on the DFW area for recruiting. This would only help our exposure up there. TCU is also still taking a significantly reduced portion of the Big 12 TV money which limits their ability to fully compete with us (and limits their negotiating power) so while we would get credit for beating a P5 team we would also be playing one with a decided disadvantage.

Have no problem playing a big 12 team but TCU just doesn't move the meter for anyone I know. I get about as excited for TCU as I get for Rice or ULL.

On the Featherston mob: Yeah I agree he showed a great degree of stupidity with his comments, and if I was his boss, I'd probably fire him. The 'he made these comments on facebook so let's make sure he is ruined for it' attitude is what made me That's all.

I do get that. TA has a vicious mob mentality at times.

I am not scared of A&M playing TCU. Our record against them speaks for itself.

I just feel like we have "helped" them enough recently giving them the opening into the Big 12. Honestly until we win that national title that makes everyone take us seriously I believe our best move is to play a little Game of Thrones and keep the rest of the state in chaos.

The best environment for us is one where the different Big 12 little sister teams are feeding on each other and Texas/OU. I feel TCU has too many advantages compared to the other two now that need to be evened out.

Something like playing Tech in the old Cotton Bowl would be better. We could avoid sandflea stadium and give Tech the platform to keep TCU (and Baylor) in check.

Or maybe play a Big 5 team OUTSIDE of Texas so the rest of the country cares. We recruit in Arizon enough, take on a few more PAC series.

TCU can't fill their stadium so they aren't bringing eyeballs or selling seats. Not to get all Texasy but DKR had it right for them versus us- all the can do is be a roach and spoil things (aka win a game in the series or snag a recruit here and there). No a serious threat, but why not squish the damn thing instead?

2 things

Its completely silly to point at our record vs them when we have only played them 1 time in the last 18 years. The one year we did play they weren't even one of their better teams. It really isn't that all that different than Texas fans going "Look at the series dominance!" while happily ignoring that since A&M moved away from being an all male military school the series is basically dead even.

AS for the first part of your post, if we are actually playing a Texas Game of Thrones and simply playing TCU elevates them, the smart play is not to cut TCU out but rather play them so they can siphon talent away from OU and Texas. We aren't going to lose many battles with TCU simply due to the fact that we play in the SEC now. Tech is going to get theirs (we have talked with them as well) and Baylor will do well so long as Briles is there.

I'd much rather slightly elevate TCU and have them take Big 12 recruits away from Texas and get the added bonus of more exposure in DFW.

Playing a Pac 12, Big 10 or ACC school in a different state would be good too and I'm sure we will occasionally do that. But if the game vs ASU at Reliant along with the rapidly increasing amount of one off neutral site games are any indication, A&M is going to start playing the bigger P5 OOCs in one offs at pro stadiums more often than giving home and homes with them. I really won't be surprised if that Oregon game never makes it to Kyle and instead reworked into a one off at somewhere like the 49ers new stadium.

I'm working on 83, 84, and 86 right now but I am going to make sure I am essentially done with the pages before I publish this time.

That way there will be less edits notifications that a mod like the first one I dealt with may notice.

Im pretty sure that if that other site hadn't made the fuss they made, it would have gone unnoticed. I mean, some of those guys on that other site cried to the media and called the TCU AD office non stop on Friday. They did all they could to get him fired.

The guy did use bad judgment, but he didn't deserve to be fired. I've seen some fellow Ags do some awful stuff in the real world, but its sickening to see it online from a mob of Ags where the whole world can see it.

Highly doubtful

The guy was an assistant AD and plastered this all over a Facebook page that he didn't even have blocked from public access.

Odds are high that he was Facebook friends with several people in the TCU athletic department, other athletic departments in the state, and in the media who would have seen it and made it public.

As soon as he posted it and walked away cackling to himself he was fricked.

Somebody on his Facebook account would have seen it and pointed it out to another person, who would have shown it to another, and then another, and then another, until it got back to his boss.

Hell, if TCU is anything like many places I have worked they were already monitoring everything he said on Facebook regardless. I've worked at several places that monitor your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, MySpace (lol) and whatever other social media network you may be part of and have seen people get fired for saying stupid shite at least twice. I also know for a fact that several colleges also monitor student Facebook pages since at least 2007 and that they can request for Facebook to let them look at anything that student has ever posted.

All three sports radio stations in Dallas have been shredding this guy the last few days and every single talking head that has brought it up has agreed that he should be fired (he actually resigned BTW) and will probably NEVER get a job in athletic administration (or possibly any admin role) again.

This wasn't some young kid who was overzealous and screwed up. He is a 38 year old grown man in a position high enough that he should have known better.

Disagree. When your specific role within the AD is compliance and PR, saying what he said is in direct conflict of his job description. TexAgs certainly made it easier for TCU to force his hand to resign, but what he said and what resulted due to his comments was plenty enough for him to lose his job IMO

Well said. Completely agree.

I have to watch what I say on social media as a servicemember. Same goes for those in positions of prominence.

Still blows my mind that he thought it would be ok to post something like that. I wouldn't even do it on the relative anonymity of a message board.

I got rid of facebook and the temptation to post things on social media a while back. Honestly I had a hard time at first deciding to do it, but looking back, I'm not sure what the allure was in the first place. I stay in contact with my friends across the country a lot more by phone now that I'm not fooling myself into thinking checking their facebook wall is any kind of actual social interaction. I've seen a lot of relationships ruined by social media, and very little good come out of it.
