Our Aggie brother Gradual_Stroke was banned this evening for posting a mildly tasteless comment about Bielema.
He did not mean to truly offend anyone, but rather to create some discussion about the trashy coach of one of our conference's schools.
Gradual is sorry that his comment upset some of the posters and admins on tRant and promises not to comment on what a truly horrible person and coach Bert is in the future.
Please free our friend, it is his night to fill the jars.

dayum, what's up with all the bannings lately? This seems like it's creating a lot of work for the admins. I think they should just let go and let this animal of a board develop to be whatever it's going to be, then it will be perfect whatever way it is.

The bannings are getting silly. They don't seem to have anything to do with any rule other than somebody has a bug up there arse

I think that's part of the problem though and the admins have started taking note of it and commenting about it. I don't see much rational, constructive and meaningful discussion of the issues going on over there. Maybe it was always that way. It seems like it is more of a trollfest/shitfest/flamefest name calling board (even though the rules purportedly prohibit that kind of thing) which I guess is ok if that's what the participants want it to be and enjoy engaging in such a process. And I'm not saying there are no good threads there and that all the posters are bad but the good threads seem to be growing few and far between. But maybe it should be a no holds barred free-for-all and I think it's perilously close to being that now. There have always been outlets and places for people to go who want to misbehave.
Fortunately this is a big place and you have a lot of options and boards as far as reading and posting goes. Obviously no one is being compelled to post on SECrant or to read the threads. It boils down to what club do you want to be a part of, and, more importantly in the grand scheme of things, what kind of board the admins want it to be. Just seems to me that the other boards have more to offer now and are more enjoyable to be on but maybe that's just me.

I think the 2nd easiest solution, besides just them not doing anything about whiny people RA'ing other people, would be to create a SMACKTALK board and have that be a place that people can flame/troll away as long as they follow the basic No Nude rule.
That way you can cater to both parties. The main SECr board can have discussions, and the flame troll threads can be admin/controlled by an elite team of holier than though techno-nazis contracted out by the site's real admins. The SmackTalk board will be like the wild west, it will be glorious, and supply the overall site with the page views needed to sustain.

I think there's merit to that and it is a good suggestion. It would in essence be another board but with looser rules so that all those participating would basically know what they were in for when they walked out into that arena. It could basically be incorporated into the format of boards already in place.
