Just calculated this out in response to a thread on the SECR. Very interesting:

Dollars per win does not equal best value coach

So if I was willing to sign as men's basketball coach for under $66k annually, I would be a better hire than Kennedy (as long as I won a conference game every year)? As I am currently unemployed, that is an interesting thought to ponder...

You'd be a better value. You wouldn't be a better coach, but you'd be a better value.

Even though I dont know daboman, I'll go on a limb and say he would be a better coach as well. The bar has been set pretty damn low by Kennedy.

Except poor Barone had G. Rollie White. Kennedy has Reed.

Which athletic director signed this guy?

You win, ProjectPat. I am resigned to our fate: Billy Kennedy will get a 4th year. In time I will learn to embrace $Bill's BK Value Menu.

This where you lost me. In the preseason, A&M was projected to win the conference in BK's first year. I believe we only lost Walkup and Holmes to graduation, so BK had enough talent to succeed from day one. Our basketball program was no reclamation project until BK turned it into one. For whatever reason, he can't obtain any measure of success at his various coaching stops until his 4th season.
