It's going to take Fort Smith probably two years just to repair a stretch of theirs. I wouldn't doubt it.

Haven't they been building the other side of that split highway on Old Missouri/Crossover for well over a year now?

They've been replacing the bridges on 540 for over a year now in Ft. Smith, everyone except the river bridge was being replaced.

The interchange at Chaffee Crossing is finished, just have to pave from VB to Texarkana now, lol.

I'm pretty stoked about the new on-ramp in Fayetteville. I don't know why the only way to get on the freeway heading north on College for so long has been to make that u-turn at Joyce.

That is much needed as well! Plus the new off ramp they are putting in right there too.

If they say 7 then it will actually take 10.

6 lanes between MLK exit in Fayetteville and Exit 88 in Bentonville. Expect interchange improvements at almost all of the exits as well

Highway 412 bypass will begin in 2015 (ROW and utility relocates currently underway) between I-540 and Highway 112. To be completed as a controlled access facility in 2018. Long term this will be the Springdale Bypass (put down the bong...not for 30+ years though)

Also Bella Vista Bypass has taken some hits recently. Missouri has no funding

AHTD plans to put a roundabout at Exit 88 in the interim before eventually building a full SPUI where I-49 will join the BVB

Further info available on the Connecting Arkansas Program website, and current info can now be found on the all-new iDriveArkansas website

Feel free to ask other road-related questions throughout the state. I'm "in the know", you might say

Looks like they are doing it in sections too. It's starts at wedington and goes for a bit then stops then picks back up around wagon wheel

Yes, they are individually bidding it all

They started with the cheapest sections to show the public they are dedicated to doing the whole thing

Going will naturally get slower as the more difficult (expensive) projects are undertaken. Last will be a rework of exit 66 and 67

Just driving through there, where it first cuts back to two lanes, every bridge/overpass is going to have to be worked on to allow adequate room...

Pretty much. And thats why the other widenings are more expensive...bridge construction is really fricking expensive

Good news...all new bridges are currently being designed for a future 8-lane I-540 (ex. Don Tyson Parkway bridge). That'll be the day...

Also I thought I should put this here

Walmart buys 126.1 acres on Bentonville/Bella Vista border for $4M

If Walmart got involved, a lot of this could be accelerated. Some think they plan to build a shiny new world headquarters skyscraper on the property...

Wouldn't that go against their whole motto every day low cost? That's why their current buildings look like a shite at HQ
