Ole Miss police said three freshman have admitted through an attorney to tying a noose around the neck of a statue of James Meredith. The students, who are all from Georgia, haven't been named, but police said they have been kicked out of a campus fraternity.
quote:
Ole Miss Police Chief Calvin Sellers said the next step is to convince prosecutors to issue arrest warrants for the three and determine what charges, if any, they could face. Sellers said there was no vandalism, but authorities are looking into possible federal hate crime charges.

How does Ole Miss ever get any black athletes? I mean I have a friend who played on the team, and I shake my head at the thought that people in his town frowned upon him slaying all the white women of his choosing.

The greek system goes out of its way to embarrass itself at all SEC schools it seems.

Having a sizable portion of non athlete black students can't hurt, unlike your Lilly white school.

No doubt. And if they're another frat he still called 95% dead on.
BTW, what frat do you mean when you say pikes - what's their real name? Pi Kappa what?

What was the purpose of them putting a noose around the statues neck? I haven't been following this story.

All of the Pikes I met at MSU were assholes, but had hot girlfriends. Damn them.

they are shite heads but i don't think they deserve to be charged with a federal hate crime over it. kick them out of the frat, out of school and move on with it. It is a waste of time to go after them if no physical damage was done to the statue. If they caused it to get marked or whatever send them a bill.

A large percentage of all hot girls are attracted to dick bags. It's pretty amazing

That will probably be what ends up happening. I think Ole Miss is just trying to make sure everyone knows that they take the issue very seriously.

James Meredith was the first African American to integrate Ole Miss. These three draped a noose around the statue's neck and then began to shout racial slurs in broad daylight. It was in tremendously bad taste and reflected horribly on Ole Miss.

How many witnesses saw this?

I don't think they should. This is an incredible teaching moment for them, and should be treated as such. Punishing them with criminal charges will be of no benefit to them later in life.
