A Missouri grade school coach has been charged in the murder of a 10-year-old girl whose suspected body was found after snatched outside her home in broad daylight.

Just hours after horrified neighbors reported seeing little Hailey Owens swept up by a man in a prowling pickup truck Tuesday evening, Springfield police believe they've found her body in the home of 45-year-old Craig Wood

I have a really good friend that lives there. She lives near her, actually. Terrible situation.

I hate stories like this. I wish there was a way to identify pedophiles in the womb so they could be aborted.

Hailey's mother is a friend, I've known her since grade school. This is unbelievably difficult. The last 24 hours have been a nightmare for her family. I last talked to the mother at 1 a.m. Now I don't even know what to say to her.

I hope the fricker is put into general population when he goes to prison.

Oh, and it's my understanding that the suspect was never Hailey's teacher, in fact he was an aide in another school. Honestly, though, i haven't kept up with the news stories today, still pretty shaken and it's hard to think about, especially while I'm sitting here watching my own kids playing safely. Anyway, it's very possible that you have more recent info than i do.

They had a vehicle description and Plate number and still couldn't save her?
That's bad.

Things like this make me sick to my stomach. All that Sandy Hook stuff I mostly ignored because of how twisted it was. Violence against children is one of the most horrible things imaginable.

It took them 3 hours and 42 minutes to get to his house. Not sure they could have saved her, but I don't understand why it took so long.

If that. He will probably go straight to isolation. Child molesters don't last long at all.

This is SO very sad. There is no pit of hell deep enough for someone that would do this to a child.

There's a lot of anger in the community over the police response. It could get ugly.

That's the first thing I thought too.

Cops get a tag #... Run that and the perp's address pops up... One phone call and explanation and search warrant is issued... At that point you can enter the home.

Just a terrible situation for the girl's family

I can understand why.

What a sad story. As a parent, I can't imagine going through that, and the guy who did it should be tortured and then killed. I'm so sorry for your friend dawggy.

News is saying he didn't know the little girl. He's a substitute teacher, middle-school football coach and aid at another school, didn't know her. Seems to be just a crime of opportunity - he saw her, and snatched her. He deserves everything that's coming to him.

There's an extra hot place in hell for this POS predator. I hope he arrives there after a long, torturous time in general population.
