The NCAA Football Rules Committee doesn't have a single power conference rep.

Does anyone find this odd? No matter what side of the fence your on about current proposals, how can power conferences not be represented in any potential rules changes?
The Oversight Committee is well under-represented as well. This is the panel that would pass any rules submitted by the Rules Committee.
This all just seems odd to me. Jut another reason why the NCAA is a farce. Frankly, I don't see a need for a change in the current rules. But if it happens, those implementing it won't feel the impact the major shifts it causes at the highest levels of college football.

Of the 12 members of the rules committee, six come from Division I, three from Division II and three from Division III. Of the six Division I reps, three come from the Football Bowl Subdivision and three from the Football Championship Subdivision.
Of the three from the FBS, not a single one comes from the power five conferences: the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC.
The Oversight Committee is well under-represented as well. This is the panel that would pass any rules submitted by the Rules Committee.

Proposals like the 10-second rule that pass the rules committee have to be approved by the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel. The panel has to approve rules proposed by each of the NCAA's different sport-specific rules committees.
The oversight panel currently is supposed to have 12 members with the same breakdown as the football rules committee: six members from Division I, three from Division II and three from Division III.
The panel currently has 11 members, with only two from Division II. Of those 11 individuals, six come from Division I schools. Of those six, five come from the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Of those five, only two - Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott and Michigan State Senior Women's Administrator Shelley Appelbaum - come from one of the five power conferences.
This all just seems odd to me. Jut another reason why the NCAA is a farce. Frankly, I don't see a need for a change in the current rules. But if it happens, those implementing it won't feel the impact the major shifts it causes at the highest levels of college football.

Does seem very odd. Wonder why.
Not being sarcastic either.

This is just as big of a question mark as any potential change, IMO.

Do random coaches get appointed to these positions, do people vote on who they want to join, or what?
I wonder what the guidelines of joining are...

Doubt it. Otherwise the folks would be pushing their agenda before leaving the spot
