Every season is 10 episodes. Episodes 8-10 are always the best with episode 9 usually being a battle of some sort and the climax.

Thanks. I guess I'll stick it out for a while. I just find it hard to give a damn about all the Peyton Place stuff when deaths aren't involved.

I don't get paid a stipend by the History Channel, by the way, but Vikings is the best series I've watched probably since "Band of Brothers". And you don't have to wait until episode 9 to think so.

Honestly I'm looking for anything to watch as I'm laid up sick and these bowl game suck something fierce. I welcome all suggestions.

And does Ray Donovan get better? I watched the first episode and got bored

So it wasn't your style of humor, get over it- Monty Python for me is similar to Airplane!, Blazing Saddles, etc. silly but funny.

Finest, like most long book series Asoiaf (GoT) takes a while to to get rolling and things explained. People who read the books were immediately enthralled, people who hadn't had to push through a lot of the explanations and/or setup of the story. Some of my friends compare it to LotR, stick with it and it will get pretty good.

Just had a big discussion about personal top 5 movies. They are

Agreed on Godfather 1 but since the question was "movies" I have to go with Godfather 2.

The Great Escape. Steve at his best Steveness. Great movie.

LOTR. If I have to pick only one it would be "The Two Towers". I actually had dreams for years about time travel with me and a .50 cal machine gun. I kicked arse

Kelly's Heroes. For old times sake. This movie was shown every year about the same date on TBS in the common area between Corps dorms. Watched it and reveled in it 4 times with my brethren. Good times. There were a lot of memorable lines from that movie, but "There you go, more negative waves! Have a little faith, baby! Have a little faith..." has served me and F-1 buddies well over the years.

The Duke. Pick one. I cannot.

House of Cards, Walking Dead, and True Detective can't get here soon enough.

Off on yet another tangent, but if you already have Amazon Prime (and if you're married you either do or will), Fire TV Stick is like the best invention in the history of inventions. It's like a whole new cable network, but everything is on demand. Best $30 I ever spent. Downside is it's going to be really tough to go back to work after the Liberty Bowl.

I can't wait. Season 1 will be in the discussion for GOAT single season. Hope they continue to knock it out the park.

I've already got my money's worth out of it with (previously unwatched) first 4 seasons of "Falling Skies" and first 2 of Vikings. I started watching HBO's Rome series tonight but it's so far meh. Series that I think are excellent and available but I already have on Blu-ray:
Band of Brothers. Far and away the best WW2 series ever.
Deadwood. Loved it.
Justified. All previous seasons.

If you already have Netflix then everything they offer is also available with the stick. Same for WatchESPN, so I don't have to watch Aggies on my laptop again. I'm sure there's more to crow about, but I've only had it for 10 days or so.

Isn't the stick just similar to a smart tv, console, Apple tv, Google chromecast, etc. that aides in streaming?

Basically enabling Netflix Hulu hbogo etc that you are separately paying for? I can't imagine Amazon picking up the licensing/subscription fees on all that

One of my all time favorites, you should be hooked by third episode if it sticks to you.

Fire stick is pretty awesome. Sideloaded Kodi and can watch all my riped DVDs.

Bro it's just a smart TV you can get the same service from Vizio, etc.

IMO Amazon is developing a reputation (in the context of manufacturing products) of creating something that already exists and repackaging it as new technology.

It's a cool TV, but it has been around

We already had Amazon Prime (which makes everything go, and the stick isn't worth the price without it as far as I can tell.) Signed up for Netflix after we got the stick, so that's another monthly charge. So yes... sort of. For similar services, I can only speak about Chromecast - not sure about the others. We have Chromecast and like it, but it simply relays whatever you're watching on your computer to the TV. Fire TV Stick taps directly into your WiFi and doesn't care what your computer(s) are doing. That's not going to be a big deal to most (and isn't to me). The big deal to me is the volume of stuff available. There's... a lot. I'm guessing Amazon hopes to make a profit through newly released movies, which you pay for just like you do PPV movies on your cable service.

More flexible than either.

Very Applecentric without certain services.

Direct competitor, though less device driven and more remote driven.

What's so funny about African swallows and 'mereley a flesh wound'??? Monty Python is one of the very few movies were I went in expecting to laugh and came out feeling like I wasted 3 hours of my life (3 hours because i watched it twice just to make sure it wasnt me that missed the jokes). It was honestly more stupid than silly. The only funny part was the beginning with the peasants, but it went downhill quickly after that.

Have you older generation folks even seen Dave Chapelle skits? Now that's comedy. Monty Python reminded me a lot of a poor attempt at comedy from a independent film (a lot of that probably has to do with how old the movie is; people who were born when that movie came out are about to turn 40)

It's not just you, for what it's worth. When I was 12 or so I'd watch Monty Python on PBS on go into conniption fits. Funniest thing I had ever seen. Several decades later my sister, remembering this, sent me several years worth of episodes. I tried watching but it was just too stupid. I try again every year or so but have never made it past the first one I watch.

I imagine younger folks will feel the same about Johnny Knoxville when they're 40 or so.

Kinda like Mighty Morphing Power Rangers.

I never realized how corny that show was until I used YouTube to refresh my childhood memories. Good God, I can't believe I used to watch that!
