So it's been a pretty busy couple of weeks for school, but after Wednesday I'll finally get a breather. I haven't had a chance to get out of the BCS area since I first got here with all the school stuff but I'm hoping to make it out to Austin this weekend, any advice on what to do? It'll probably be an all day thing so they plan is to walk around the t.u. campus first and then just wander around the city from there. I know it is the home of the hated 'horns, but I always enjoy being able to tour campuses.

Is 6th street the t.u. bar scene or is it a separate scene away from campus used by the older crowd?

What are the other areas someone in my age group (24), could do in Austin during the day and night?

You should get some good detailed answers from the Austin natives on here but 6th is kind of a combo of everything. Austin is a huge city, like the 10th or 11th largest in the US, and you get all kinds of folks there. East 6th aka Dirty 6th is a total shitshow but has some bars that are frequented by UT kids. West 6th is classier and more for the older UT crowd and young professionals. It's also a little pricier.

If you want UT bars Cain and Abel's and Scholz Beer Garden are two pretty quintessential UT bars, both are up close to campus. Get some real Texas BBQ while you're there, whether it be in Austin or one of the famous places outside of it.
