I'm not trying to talk you out of anything, but we stayed at Hotel Valencia Riverwalk for a week and loved it. Downtown, within walking distance of the Alamo, the Majestic Theater, lots of very good restaurants, and of course the Riverwalk. The only driving we did was to Natural Bridge Caverns (worth the trip) and SeaWorld (definitely NOT, during spring break).

But SeaWorld is the titty sprinkles
I have no idea what that means.
I'm apparently getting older by the minute.

I swear I need to check these out. If its one thing Houston lacks, its geological attractions. This city is as flat as an ironing board.

Just means it's awesome
And I need to go to the Caverns. Never been, if you can believe it.

If you're traveling southbound, look to the right into the horizon. I-35 doesn't pass through the hill country, it parallels it from Austin until you get to north San Antonio

Its scary to think of these Houston drivers on roads with hills. I swear, DPS just hands out licenses to any idiot that is willing to pay.
North freeway. America's great ghettobahn.

No! I've been many times, including during my honeymoon!
Please don't take my San Antonian card

learned to drive in Houston. I'm prepared for the zombie apocalypse, NASCAR, or Mexico City because I learned under such conditions all simultaneously

When I was 18 or so but before I'd graduated high school, I was helping my sister move. She's a sip btw. So she had a VW Rabbit stick and I was moving her stuff and her two cats and driving that car for the first time....in Austin. I kept having trouble when I stopped at lights because I'd either gun it or start sliding backwards. And the cats were all over the place fighting and scared and puking. So I was all like

I drove a small 4 cylinder stick pickup in college that produced a whopping 130 lb. of torque.
I know that feeling of having to check your rearview mirror at every stop sign that has an incline.

Toyota Tacoma vs. F150 vs Silverado vs Ram 1500. What you take and why?

I'm not a fanboy of a certain brand, but for latest model trucks, I'd flip a coin between Ford and GMC. Chevrolet trucks have a slightly uglier design than their GMC counterpart, so I'd say they're solid #3.
Rams (Or Dodge Rams) have had a history of crappy engines and parts. We used to have an old one in the farm back in the 90s (well it wasn't old then ) that used to break down a lot. My early childhood memories were of that piece of crap getting fixed all the time. Maybe they've changed, maybe they haven't...but I personally wouldn't want to spend 25k to find out.
GTFO of here with that Jap crap. Don't give me that BS about it being built in Texas...its still a Jap truck. Give me an American brand like Ford or GM.
But if you want to talk about buying a used card...then yes, I'll sadly admit that jap cars have longer durability. Lord only knows what kind of crap Ford and GM were smoking in the 2000s.
