I was in those meetings, and I heard the comments by the other members of the committee. At no point in time did anybody bring up strategy. This was all about player safety.”

Weird bc Aubies and Aggies seem to think this is all some great plot to take them down outside the lines. I doubt Berry and Calhoun are motivated by stopping Gus, Hugh, and Sumlin.

It's so surreal that we have short angry midgets making rule changes in college football

Well yeah. You don't get this rule passed if you do.

Then have an open meeting, with folks from both sides... Fresh Defensive Players (LBs and Dline) will now cause more injuries to offensive players, QBs and Linemen)

That is the SAME logic used...

So if it is ALL about player safety, then lets make blitZing illegal..

This is on off year for rule changes and only player safety issues are up for consideration during an off year.

Bert and Nick know this.

Of course they're not going to mention strategy in this ruse.

Question: has this rule officially been implemented? I thought it was all conjecture...

Right, the rule can't even be brought up for vote.

What would Arkansas fans have thought about this rule when Petrino was coach?

It has been passed by Rules Committee. If it is passed by Oversight Committee March 6, then it will be the rule starting 2014 season.

Some Bama fans are saying Bert is pushing player safety and Saban is pushing unfair advantage.
