Next to Manhattan. Its been right about a year since it opened. Do any of you go there? It's my newest favorite bar.

Been once. Food was decent. I'd characterize it as more of a restaurant with a bar inside than as a just a bar (More like Trappeze than Georgia Bar). The food was better than the drink selection, IMO.

Tried to go back for an early dinner (read: 5PM) with the family on my birthday, but they wouldn't make my daughter a grilled cheese sandwich (srsly - Bread, Cheese, Butter: Not That Hard). We ended up going to Trappeze.

And I should say you are a fan, since the artwork you use as your avatar hangs next to the entrance.

I'm a fan of the artist.

That's weird they wouldn't make your kid a grilled cheese. One of my friends was a cook there for a while, odd they wouldn't do that. I wouldn't go back either if that happenned to me.

In my experiences though, they've always been really accommodating. The only thing I can think of is that there's nothing on the menu with bread, and nothing on the menu with cheese. If they don't have bread or cheese in the kitchen, they can't make you a grilled cheese.

I have found the drink selection to be among the best in AThens.... certainly it's no Trappeze, no one can touch Trappeze for drink selection. But they've got a great wine list, over a dozen signature cocktails, full bar and can make you anything you want, and about 20 beers.

I would characterize it as the opposite though, it's a bar with a restaurant inside. I rarely see people at the tables in the side room, except when something is happening on the stage. The food is all bar food. Good bar food, but bar food.

ETA- if you go back, don't get the Pork Steam Buns. They used to be the best thing on the menu but the quality has significantly fallen off. At first I thought it was an off-night, but then I went again this week and still sub-par. The new item Green Chile Pork Nachos (not really nachos, more like the fried wontons you'd sprinkle in egg drop soup) are awesome.

One of my faves. Trappeze, Manhattan and World Famous = Athens Bar Trifecta.

I would trade Manhattan for The Flicker or Georgia Bar.

I just never had a good time at Manhattan. People love that place, I just don't like it. I can't put my finger on it.

I had the Green Chile Pork Nachos the time I went for lunch. They were good. Other people in my party got the Chicken and Waffle, Pork Steam Buns, and Schwarma. It was good enough that I wanted to go back with my family, which says something I guess.

My perception of it as a restaurant is probably that a) I have never been there later in the evening and b) it is in the space that used to be Wilson's Soul Food.

ETA: I'm a total beer nerd, so my perception of the drink list is warped. They did have Lagunitas Sucks on the bottle list, so someone doing the ordering has good taste. If I remember correctly, they had no draft beer - a huge minus IMO.

ETA2: Trappeze isn't my favorite beer spot in Athens, either. I'll take Aromas all day. Especially before the former beer buyer left (but they still kick arse)!
