Hell, we weren't even THAT great.... pretty good, but at least it would be entertaining and not a crime against the sport.

What the hell happened?

Coleman Coliseum erupts

I was watching videos like that earlier.

My freshman year was 2006-2007, where we started 13-1 and were ranked #8 in the AP poll. And then the wheels fell off

I daily long for the Mark's Madness days of Erwin and Grizzard and Mo and the Elite Eight and SEC Championships

I would take Gottfried back

Those teams were awesome. Solid post play (Hays, Dudley, Davis, Davidson, Hendrix), a really good all-around scorer (Wallace, Grizzard, Winston), someone who could shoot (Meade, Shelton) and a good true PG (Williams, Pettway).

One of my fondest memories is Jason Reese throwing down on Auburn late in the game when we were beating the shite out of them (back when we were actually capable of blowing someone out).

I preferred the wimp era. The sweet sixteen like every year. Those teams of the early 90s would beat the hell out of current SEC teams.

I agree. I say "awesome" as it relates to the current product on the floor, though I still think those teams had the talent to rival some of Wimp's teams. They just lacked the offensive cohesiveness (Gottfried's high post = ).

Grant isn't the guy for the job, but I'd take him over Gottfried any day. Gottfried was a product of the talent we were producing in-state. At least Grant can get his teams to play defense 4 out of every 5 years.

My favorite Bama player of all time. Dude would just go crazy some nights. He'd get that glazed look in his eyes, possibly because of drugs, and be unconscious from the field.

Maybe that's what we're missing?

My freshman year was Grant's second year, when we barely lost out on the SEC Championship and got screwed by the tournament. That team was so much fun to watch and I really thought we were going to be great moving forward.

Seeing Coleman like this makes me sad. Such an awesome atmosphere in that clip.

Ugh. Yes our basketball program has gotten stagnant. Our players fight hard, they just have no offensive skills for the most part.

At least when Tony Mitchell and Senario Hillman were here we actually got to see some badass dunks every game and it was exciting.. I think I can count on one hand how many times Ive seen one of our players dunk the ball this year. Hopefully things will get better.

We had some great players under Gottfried. My personal favorite were Gazzard, Mo Williams, chuck Davis, Kennedy Winston, and Ronald Steele.

But none of then can see Antonio Mcdyess when he was in his prime. Befor the injuries he was a human highlight reel, just youtube him.
