I'm taking my wife and children to the most exclusive restaurant in the city. I've also scheduled an old time barber shop quartet to make an appearance at our table to sing a valentine's song to my wife and girls, complete with a rose and chocolates for each.

I will most definitely be filming this golden moment!

And then later, after the kids are snuggled in bed, I plan to spend quality time "downtown" on my lady with a side of peen.

Nothing. It's an artificial marketing driven holiday designed to increase consumerism.

Taking your wife out to dinner is not so bad.

Not giving anything, not getting anything. Dumbest "holiday" ever created.

Got her flowers and chocolate. Then we're going to binge watch House of Cards.

Meh. It is what you make it. If it takes a holiday to show your appreciation and love for your SO then it is dumb. Nothing wrong with doing something special for it though.

And can't say what but sent him a couple things that he'll probably get today.

Side note to Belle:

Found out my SO's great uncle was some basketball star at UK back in the 30s. Something about a past half court shot and the governor putting a nail in the floor at the spot he took the shot.

Ring a bell?

Absolutely.

He also played football and was from Louisville too. I take it she has some family around these parts then.

Yeah.

Funny thing is she hadn't heard the story until last night. Seems like something everyone in the family would know.

That's crazy. I'll say it was a big enough deal that it's a decent part of Kentucky Basketball lore. That's pretty cool though.

None. I don't fall into the silly commercial trap that is Valentines Day.

I get into this discussion with people from time to time.

If you're participating because you feel obligated, it's a commercial trap.

If you do "Valentine's-like" things throughout the year, it's just another chance to show the person you care about that they're special.

I'm all for it, under the right circumstances, so long as the focus is on the other person and not on some dumbass box of chocolate from CVS.
