@schadjoe: NCAA football rules committee proposes that overturned targeting foul would not still result in 15 yard penalty
Don't know why they couldn't recognize this problem before passing the rule last year

That doesn't fix shite. They need to fix what "targeting" is.
This:
Should not result in being thrown out of a game. Until that is fixed, then they haven't done anything.

I think the ref was targeting, had dat flag ready to go before hand

Can't help but wonder if this is gonna cause the refs to be more hesitant about overturning, it's a judgement call, resulting in more suspensions that would have been overturned, hope not.

that call totally changed the game too. Absolute horseshite.

Roughing the passer, at most.

looks like he had a target and he hit the bullseye.

I'd say the roughing the passer was earned there though. He clearly saw the ball leave ACS's hand, took 2 steps, and hit him. No, I don't think it should be targeting though.

That's not targeting at all. But it is an obvious late hit.

I hate to blame the refs as a reason a team loses, but vs Vandy, the refs really did cost us the game. That play with R Drew, was horse shite! The ref had his hand going for the flag before Drew even hit him!
Also the play towards the end of the game is what really cost us! It was 4 and 5 or something, and R Wilson hits the WR after he catches the ball, and it jars it lose. He gets flagged for targeting, the ruling was overturned, but they get automatic 1st down, instead of turnover of downs. They ended up scoring and winning the game. That could been teh difference of 14 points, preventing the 7 from them, then going and scoring 7.

Yeah, but it does fix this shite
from giving Vandy an undeserving 15 yards on 4th down late in the game.

Not necessarily, though. Booth may just decide to call it a penalty and an ejection instead of nothing
But hopefully they'll be less ticky tacky with the targeting altogether.

This.
It's such a bs rule that makes defenses even more tentative in a game that favors the offense more and more.

Edit: Saw WG beat me to it. Two absolute horseshite calls in that Vandy game.

Agreed, but Technically his hands landed above the qb's shoulder. The hit was harmless however.

They really need to get rid of the ejection, or at least lessen to one quarter or penalty box "like," like a few minutes of game time at the most. It's too subjective of a penalty to let it potentially influence the whole game.
