Louisiana vs Georgia

Georgia has got to be the superior state.
100 miles of coast and beautiful barrier islands with all the inshore and offshore fishing you could want.
100s of square miles of rolling Appalachian mountains, trickling with countless mountain streams and waterfalls, deer, bear, trout.
Most of the state is southern piedmont with rich soil for a variety of agriculture, from peaches to tobacco to timber, dotted with reservoirs for recreation and high quality bass habitat.
The intersection of all the nations railroads and highways form the historical hub of the southeast, and more recently the busiest passenger airport in the world... from Atlanta you can go anywhere. And in modern times, the fiber optic lines connecting the nation's communication infrastructure also intersect there.
Whether you want big city life, lazy coastal living, or cozy mountain life, Georgia has it all.
Don't even get me started on Athens vs New Orleans.

Georgia ate a big lunch, took a dump, and they named it Louisiana.

I was instructed to not start anymore state history/geography threads. Pretty sure that rule applies across the entire spectrum

I don't think there's any question, unless you're completely retarded

Here's the thing about New Orleans.
Great place to spend a long weekend. That's it. You'd have to be a psycho to want to live there. The only people I would give a pass to are people who grew up there, have never been anywhere else, and think it's all normal.

Athens vs New Orleans
I would compare Savannah and New Orleans more so than Athens. Completely different city types

New Orleans is far better than Athens but Georgia probably wins overall after you factor in Savannah. Baton Rouge is kinda underrated, though.

If you could combine Atlanta and Savannah into one city, there's no question that city would be better than New Orleans. The one thing New Orleans has is the fact that it brings in an economic hub and historical, colonial city into one, which is unique to this region.

As BamaBird said, New Orleans vs. Athens is really an absurd discussion. If you want a large city you wouldn't be happy in Athens, if you want a college town Athens is as good as it gets IMO.
We can have the state comparison, but New Orleans vs. Athens is silly.
I like the idea of discussing New Orleans vs. Savannah. Even though obviously those cities differ in size a great deal also.

These New Orleans experts on here.
Spend a couple of weekends in the French Quarter and you know the place.

I've spent a lot of time in New Orleans and very little in the French Quarter. Cool argument and facts tho

yea a bunch of tards that have no clue about the real new orleans.
Georgia has catfan in it so it loses for being the home of the super yankee.
our coastline isn't pretty but the fishing kills georgia

Georgia has Athens and the coast. The rest is terrible. The Appalachians part is the worst of the mountain range.
For the win, the man that founded LSU burned half your state down. If one man can do that then your state sucks.

So... NOLA is the only thing worthwhile in Louisiana? That's all that you people seem to want to talk about.

That's two things more than Louisiana has.

Pretty sure it wasn't him by himself. I'm fairly certain that he had tens of thousands of men with him.
ETA: And Civil War smack. El Oh El. Typical of those that don't have anything else to cling to.

I'm not saying Georgia's the best state in the US. It's not even close to that. But to say the entire state is terrible is laughable.

I like Louisiana. I was driving through there a few months ago, heading to Texas. I stopped at a gas station outside Baton Rouge and dang if there wasn't a grown arse live tiger in a cage next to the pumps.
I mean, I've stopped at a crap load of gas stations in my day from sea to shining sea. Only in Louisiana was there a frickin' tiger in a cage at one.
Louisiana is just fine in my book.
