DEFENSE: B

There were some rough spots early, but Vanderbilt finished in the Top 25 nationally in total defense for the third straight season. The only other four SEC schools to do that were Alabama, Florida, LSU and South Carolina.

Nonetheless, he engineered the kind of run that we might not see for a long time again at Vanderbilt, which had enjoyed just one winning season in the 28 years prior to Franklin arriving on campus.

Time to make ESPN eat crow. Our defense is only going to get better with Mason. The offense is also building depth with higher rated recruits. Time to develop them.

My least favorite part:

"But it's a team that found ways to win, which is a credit to James Franklin and his staff, not to mention the leadership on the team. "

I look forward to Mason continuing the success so Vandy isn't considered a one-hit-coaching wonder.

Me too. I really like Vandy and I think y'all made another good smart hire. Hopefully he will build upon the success franklin had.

Question: how'd y'all's recruiting class turn out? Last I saw franklin really was screwing y'all. Did it fill out nicely in he end?

Ended up ranked 50th by Scout and Rivals and 46th by 247. That's our 3rd best class on Rivals and Scout and 2nd best according to 247. Signed 22 including Nifae Lealao who is our highest rated signee ever. So...not too bad.
