So, I'm thinking about this next year. My first thought is that if he is at all ready, Barker should be the starter. Let's get it going with him so he can learn on the fly.
General Conversation. Post your thoughts.

I think any of Stoops recruits that are ready to play should be on the field. Can we really afford to redshirt a bunch of guys?

I realize freshman aren't typically ready, but I would rather go 2-10 again with Barker and a bunch of freshman and sophomores starting and playing, gaining experience, than players who won't play next year.

Two things would have to happen before Barker starts imo:

1: The pass blocking from our o-line would have to improve dramatically.

2: Barker would have to be the hands-down better QB.

If those 2 don't happen; Barker will forced to make really quick decisions and will be on his back more than anything, which will shake his confidence and could lead to serious injury.

Thought for sure that would be mostly a 3-4/4-3 hybrid with Dupree playing lb and putting his hands down when we needed a four man front, but that's not happening now I don't guess according to Eliot.
So a four man front it still is. Guessing Hatcher will still come in at times for our 4-2-5/5-1-5 formation. Assuming we're still putting a safety in the WILL/SAM's place as the star.

It'll be interesting to see what happens. I can see him being better through the air than Whitlow or Smith. But who knows what we get out of Towles or Phillips at this point. He either needs to start or be a RS.

At the very least I think you see a lot of youth in our secondary. Majority of those guys have been sold immediate PT.

It's always risky starting a freshman qb. If he proves himself in practice and earns the spot then so be it, but it doesn't always pay off. Even Manziel and Winston were redshirted.

Key comment right there.

The biggest issue will be the O line. If they can not protect with great ability, his QB time will be short with early injuries. It all starts with the line.
