Barnhart and other UK officials offered a sneak peek at the new $110 million stadium renovations before unveiling them officially at a large-scale news conference Monday, which included Gov. Steve Beshear, head coach Mark Stoops and other dignitaries.

A reduced capacity from 67,000 to 61,000. The goal is to create better seats, not more seats, officials said.

I guess they want to limit the impact of the other teams fans.

Looks nice, it appearing more full is a good thing.

Looks like quite an upgrade, regardless. Good for UK.

This downsizing thing appears to be a trend...Arizona State is downsizing Sun Devil Stadium as part of their renovation, as did both Cal and Stanford at their respective stadiums.

Don't care too much for it...upper seats are too far away from the field. The slant away from the field is a design I don't like....which is why the Swamp is the best...its built straight up almost and even the upper seats are close to the field....just my viewpoint.

It's what they have to do to add in luxury suites and other upgrades within the stadium. Some fans don't like it, personally I think the other upgrades are more important than the seating (i.e. recruiting areas).

61,000 is still bigger than three other SEC venues, which is where we currently stand anyway.

I went to the Bama/UK game this year. There was a good crowd at the beginning. At the end? Not so much.

The renovation looks nice though.

It will only be bigger than one SEC venue in 3 years

[quote]Adding to the student-section experience will be the addition of a central tunnel beneath the area, through which the team will run onto the field.

The student section will surround a glass-front recruiting room and an attached patio area unlike anything Barnhart has seen in the nation.

The long-coveted recruiting room, which can hold up to 200 people, will have flat screen televisions and other decorative details.

It's gonna be pretty fricking nice, regardless of the size. Most venues aren't even selling out their games. It doesn't make sense to keep adding on and adding on.

Our 45 million dollar football training facility will be among the very best in the entire country when it's finished.

I hear ya. LSU's SEZ Expansion is more about adding premium seating. That's where the money is these days.

I guess it will be 6k less Bama/LSU fans then. I kid I kid UK fans, those upgrades do look really nice. You guys are going to have some first class facilities when your renovations are done.

Looks like a typical UK crowd here in this rendering.

Looks like they were told to add a few, but not too many fans in concourse to make it believable.

As Americans get fatter, the seats get larger.

Y'all still trying to figure out the dimensions of a regulation football field or what?
