So I've had acne all my life and it's gotten a bit better since I've matured but I am just sick of it. My dermatologist told me the other day that the only option left was acutaine but I've heard bad things about it. If you've taken acutaine before just voice your opinions

It worked for me. Dries your face out ALOT. Have to get lab work to check liver function every so often. Helped me a lot.

I've never taken it, but have had a friend and an ex-gf that have. My friend hated it, but hated acne more. It really dries your skin out, to the point his lips would crack and bleed on the reg.

If you're a chick, there is a high risk of birth defects if you get pregnant while taking it. Girl I dated was taking it, and there were huge warnings on the box. She didn't have the dry skin problem that I recall. Her acne wasn't even that bad, so not sure why she took it.

Soap made with green tea is best for acne and it's great for your skin. Anything that dries your skin out is bad for you. I don't care what anyone says.

Dumb bitches say it makes you depressed however I was happy. Took 14 weeks one beer would get me buzzed. All the blood test every other week. No Acne afterwards, overall a solid time. Oh a chap stick is your best friend.

I took Accutane about 7 years ago. I didn't have bad acne, but it bothered me a lot, and nothing else on the market worked.

I had to take it for 4 months. Each month they gave me a stronger dosage. It will make you extremely dry. My forearms developed rashes. My face was all red and peeling, but I survived. It also made me extremely emotional. I didn't notice a change while I was on it, but I did after I stopped taking it. My roommates can be a witness to that.

My face used to be really oily, but it's not anymore. I have to wear moisturizer every day now.

Took it when I was in high school. 1990ish.

I only had one side effect. My lips would stay dry and chapped.

Got blood tested every week I was on it. Cleared everything up. Worked like a charm.

And the side effects are not all that common, other than the dryness. The only other one besides the dryness was the fact that it made my hair curly when I took it. It went back to completely normal afterwards so not a big deal

Some of my hair fell out while on it... A little spot behind my ear about the size of a nickel... Thought I had alopecia but the spot filled in a few weeks after I finished taking it... That only happens in rare cases though.

I, too, am considering taking it. My acne isn't bad but the smallest pimples bug me. If it makes you depressed I don't want anything to do with it though.

I just researched that and it said like 1% of people that took it got depressed but then if you think about it, like 5% of the people in this world are just naturally depressed so the likeliness of accutane causing depression is pretty slim

I didn't notice any depression when I took it, but then, I was depressed from the acne beforehand.

However, if yours isn't bad, I don't recommend it. It's described as the nuclear bomb of acne treatments and probably has some long reaching effects that aren't well documented.
