Just how bad was Alabama in the decade before Nick Saban fell into their lap?

In the decade that passed after Gene Stallings left the University of Alabama, Alabama fell into a dark spell that most Alabama fans either purged from their memory or didn't realize before they earned their sidewalk diploma. Ya'll were in Tennessee's position of being on probation from the Big 6. So keep this in mind before you tell other Big 6 members about their records of late. Especially teams that have beaten you positive records against you in the past 3 decades

Sad thing is, this will be seen as a flame thread. Great information though, I enjoyed the read

12 National Titles
22 or so SEC Titles
Winning record against all SEC teams
22 or so SEC Titles
Winning record against all SEC teams

Bonafide does have a point though. Might want to reword that title

Completely missed the point of the thread brosky. It is that Alabama fans act take for granted what they have in Saban and their success and don't realize how shitty they were before he came.

we all go through rough periods dude
that said, bama was damn lucky to be in the right place at the right time to get Saban. Without that, there's no telling how long that stretch would have lasted.

How about their wins in November and SOS difference?

Won an SECCG during that stretch. Not bad for one of their worst decades ever.

I'm sorry alabama hurt you.

Got your jimmies rustled in your own thread, so you had to make another Such a bitch.

Saban has half as many National Titles as another Bama coach. I believe he is appreciated but Bama has a history of winning so this is not exactly anything new.

And they somehow beat us TWICE in 99, including a 34-7 whipping in Atlanta.

Since Stallings and pre Saban, you were the definition of #tDecline.
Ya'll should be on an elite level but don't pretend like you weren't in one of the roughest periods of football by a top program in the modern football era

Why cut it off at '06? Do the following years not matter?

Read the thread title dumbfrick. Also, ya'll are only 4-3 against Auburn with Nick Saban. Very very possible ya'll will be 4-4. If Auburn wins the SEC next year, we will have more SEC championships than ya'll too
