They probably make less than $20k and piss off a ton of Ags and prevent the casual fan from ever watching and becoming a diehard. Thank god for the SECN next year that is going to force them to give it away

I imagine that the SEC network will show a series each weekend, but I think that we're still going to be dependent on "12thManTV" for a lot of baseball.

The SECN has an accompanying web channel (a la ESPN3) for overflow. All baseball games will be streamed is my understanding.

That will be awesome! Assuming that it's not like espn3.com, which I don't get because my ISP hasn't paid for it.

Middle of the 3rd with the good guys down 1-0.

It's rally cap time!

Pretty sure it will be exactly like ESPN3. ESPN charges like $0.15 per subscriber for ESPN3 and I imagine they will do the same for SECN3 or whatever.

So if your ISP doesn't carry ESPN3, they probably won't pony up for it. You stuck on options via apartment complex?

good start to inning but then we naturally bunt with one of our better hitters in the 3rd fricking inning. I really dislike small ball

Tied up! 1-1

The pitcher has walked 2 and hit 2 to get us a run. Only out has been when we sacrificed them over

end of 3, Ags up 2-1. 2 runs that innning without a hit as their pitcher hit 3 and walked two

Sabermetrics teaches that stolen bases and sacrifice bunts, long fixtures of the game of baseball, actually do more harm than good over the long run.

Someone should give Rob Childress a copy of Moneyball.

I'm a stats dork so I'll just say that's not exactly right. Stolen bases are break even at 66% (depending on number of outs). The major league average is about 66% so for the most part they are a waste of time.

College ball is different because there are a lot more variation is steal %s and a lot more errors. It significantly changes the numbers for both stealing and bunting. Aggressive play forces inefficient fielding teams to make plays under pressure, which is totally irrelevant in MLB. Overall I agree with you but there's more of a case for college ball.

In the NCAA, stolen bases draw more bad throws into CF, and bunts force a *lot* more errors. That's one of the most visible differences to me between the NCAA and MLB. A snap bunt in college is always an adventure. In MLB, the snap bunt almost never works without the element of surprise.

I like Money Ball (the book - haven't seen the movie), but I don't think that Sabermetrics applies very well to small ball and the NCAA. BTW, I wouldn't call us a small ball team since 2011.

Mid-Missouri is a weird place. The only ISP in town that has espn3.com is Mediacom, the cable company. I have DirecTV and DSL.

You can't get cable internet without paying for a minimum package of TV channels, so if I go to cable internet, I'll leave DirecTV. I couldn't bring myself to pay both companies every month.

I look at beautiful Olsen from "the camera." It's 69F and sunny. Meanwhile, I step outside to figure out what that noise is. It's 29F and has started sleeting.

Ice sucks. Give me snow or rain, but not any more fricking ice!

Here's what happened to my car the night of Dec 22. By the time I took this picture the next morning, the temperature was down to 7F. It took me the better part of a week to get into it.
