How well does LSU do in NoLa/State of Tulane recruiting?

From what I understand they are dominating, but does Tulane keep them in state every so often?

Thought so.

I hear some Tulane fans keep those tapes from the '80s and dream about being big-time again.

With that in mind, I would expect them to 'steal' one or two from LSU every so often.

I can't remember anyone off the top of my head that Tulane has stolen from us that we were really after.

Curtis Johnson is doing a hell of a job at Tulane and will put them back on the map again. But as of right now Tulane does not compete against LSU for any players. What Johnson is doing a good job of is keeping those players with in New Olreans from going to the McNeese's, Northwestern's and ULL and the out of state schools.

He can make a living and fielding very good teams from just doing that.

That kinda puts them in a box, assuming they can't elevate their product they will never again challenge LSU for dominance with that paradigm.

Interesting. I guess I was overly optimistic at Tulane's ability to keep a 4 star that maybe LSU was full on but was still interested in.

Matt Forte. Saban got reedy. Forte had really good grades, so he tried to get him to walk on so he could free up another scholly and sign one more player. Forte got pissed off about it and walked. He would have been a beast, but it isn't like we were hurting at RB at the time.

I said this just yesterday, it would benefit the BIG WTF Conference to make Tulane a member. That allows Tulane to raise it's national profile then Tulane could potentially start challenging LSU for some of those in state recruits. In addition it allows the Big 12-4+2 to expand their television market and establish a footprint in SEC territory.

Given the lack of fan base for Tulane, I'm not sure it would have much impact. A large part of Tulane's student body and alumni aren't from Louisiana, and they don't appear to care much for football. Years ago there was a stronger local fan base. That has dissipated and might be very difficult to rebuild. LSU will still be king and interest in the SEC will dominate the local market. Tulane might be able to recapture some local support from the business community, but it would be an uphill battle to seriously impact LSU's dominant position.

Only way this could be true is if LSU didn't recruit him at all.

We only signed Hester in that class. Top running backs in the state went elsewhere.

I want Tulane back in the SEC. Now, more than ever, we need an annual Green Wave vs Crimson Tide game. Why this is a matter of urgency, I'm not at liberty to say at this juncture, but you can trust me on that point.

I would want this too if I were an A&M fan/alum. LSU just doesnt have instate rivals for recruiting like Texas, Alabama, Florida or Georgia

It went over my head then

I guess I was just surprised that Tulane struggles so much athletically. Before they left the SEC in the fifties (?) they were great, and could have been a legitimate in state rival.
