Isn't this guy a starter? Why is he transferring?

Before anyone gets interested, he can't transfer within the SEC.

No one knows for sure. A lot of speculation that he was passed up on the depth chart by Keanu Neal, Jabari Gorman, and Marcel Harris, but who knows for sure.

He and RS JR Ian Silberman, an OG that actually played a decent amount, are some of the stranger transfers I've seen recently.

UF had enough space to sign 25 before Riggs transfered, and they only signed 24, so i don't really know?

Muschamp to announce at NSD presser that Cody Riggs, who started all 12 games at SS, plans to transfer. Sources say Riggs wants to play CB - but with VH3, Poole, and Tabor and Dawson coming in, there was no way he was playing corner. He just didn't have the size that Muschamp wants at the position, and didn't have the skills to make up for his lack of size in man coverage.

He was a solid player, but I guess if he's dead set on being a starting corner, he probably won't be able to do that at UF with at least one of the spots completely locked down by VHIII.

Two reasons:

He wants to play corner.

Muschamp is loathed by a significant portion of the players--seriously, there have been rumors for months that a number of players were shocked the guy wasn't fired and that many essentially quit on him-- not hugely surprising given he's a rageaholic arse at the best of times.

He does, but that's hardly a reason

Link? or is this just hearsay

Riggs said that he plans to attend graduate business school and pursue either an MBA or other business degree. He’s currently finishing his degree in Family Youth and Community Sciences, studying for the GMATs and doing an internship at a Boys & Girls Club in Gainesville.

Riggs sees going elsewhere for graduate school as a chance to expand his network. Riggs is the son of former NFL All-Pro running back Gerald Riggs. Cody Riggs said he grew up around a non-profit organization his parents started — Florida Youth Track and Field.

“I want to impact my community with that degree,” he said. “When a student that isn’t an athlete goes somewhere else for graduate school, they’re applauded. Same for coaches when they leave a school and it’s better for their family and future. When an athlete does it, though, it’s viewed as a problem.”

Who told you that about the players? Curious.

Riggs is transferring because he wants to play corner and WM told him he won't play him at CB. Riggs is terrible at CB, so it's completely understandable. He is being told by members of his family that he's an NFL CB, so he's going somewhere that he can play CB.
