UT's refueling station ...

I gotta admit, that's pretty cool.
SCAR does something similar but not to that degree. I guess we've got some catching-up to do once our nutrition guys see that video.
Anyone else see that on the ESPN recruiting show?
Bottom line.
UT has an area they refer to as "the refueling station."
Custom juice drinks and custom vitamin dosages are given as the players come through during the course of their days. What I remember was 700 pds of fruit a week, a couple of hundred pounds of fresh veggies, a 100 pds of freshly ground peanuts that are mixed into some of the shakes.
Good stuff, well done UT.

I didn't see the show but I know we have one at Arkansas.

I always thought that was illegal. I read somewhere that the players can't get offered food that's not available to the rest of the student body. Maybe snacks/drinks are OK, but not meals?

They were grinding a lot of fruit, a lot of peanuts, etc.
They had a portable pill cabinet, reminded me of the type I use for screws and nuts in my workshop, and it had players names on the little drawers with drawers full of daily pills that are administered.
In large wax coated paper cups with specific recipes taped to each, I saw a girl dumping ice cream scoops full of powdered protein mix, or at least it appeared to be. And that powdered mix was supposed to be mixed with the juices they were grinding on the opposite long counter.
She said the most popular recipe is known as "The Eric Berry," which she drank and said was delicious and full of various fresh berries.

they need more than a refueling station.

Refuel in style, if you attend UT. Or work at a refueling station, if you attend USC.
No brainer.

See what happens when you try to play nice with the voltards? You evoke the famous stupid fricking Lane Kiffin quote directed at Alshon Jeffery.
How did that work-out for UT?
Nice mental image bump of Lane in a UT cap though. Thanks
It also reminds me of one of my favorite all-time Gameday signs (Actual video of Vol players robbing one of uncle Jimmy's Pilot stations) LINK:

You might not have a sense of humor, but the artist that drew the glorious set of nuts on your avatar did.

It's actually far more than just a neat smoothie bar that tastes good. Our team nutritionist had started out grinding things fresh because she had to per NCAA rules. (Make it from scratch and it avoids some kind of issue or at least it used to). She basically had nothing to work with and had to run from here to there just to get things made but she worked her tail off and the coaches started to take notice of how damn good she was at designing plans for athletes -- weight gain, weight loss, muscle needs, medical needs/issues, anything and everything, she had them covered and was producing visible and measurable results.
So after years of results and success managing athletes caloric intake, nutrients, and other needs, she got her refueling station. It was a part of the facilities was a part of the recent facilities upgrades/construction.
She's one of only 21 full time sports dieticians in the Div. 1. And she'd very much considered an integral part of our team - actually all our teams.

That's why everything is ground fresh. She started out grinding nuts for peanut butter to add weight because using peanut butter off the shelf is considered a 'snack.' However she's actually a sports dietician and the refueling station is a part of training. It may look like a snack bar and it may taste good but it's no snack bar. Everything is preplanned given every athletes needs, body, workout status, etc. and it serves all of our teams not just football or men's teams. We're one of only a handful D1 schools that employs a full time sports dietician and her work is legit.
I don't know if the NCAA changed the rule or not or otherwise loosened them up but since it's made from absolute scratch it would be ok regardless.

I think most schools have something similar. I know Alabama has one and nutritionists that help develop diets for all the players.

Others probably do have smoothie bars but this is a bit different though it looks the same at first glance.
These aren't smoothies in the snack food sense. The refueling bar is legit and provides individually tailored nutrition for each athlete created by our sports dietician. She deals with all kinds of needs from medical to workout. It's more like having an individual GMC lab that provides supplements tailored to your body and weekly needs except these taste good.
