Best friends with Byron Cowart FWIW.
Here is Davis' Senior film. He's shifty to say the least.

I want to be excited...but he's a pretty small guy. He is shifty, but kind of looks like a dime a dozen player.

5-star 2015 DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, New Jersey)
The two-way standout pushed St. Peter's Prep to a state championship rematch with Paramus Catholic by dominating during the semifinal round. Fitzpatrick, who stands 6'1", 198 pounds, caught nine passes for 274 receiving yards, per Braulio Perez of NJ.com.
He hauled in three touchdown tosses from teammate and Notre Dame quarterback commit Brandon Wimbush. Each of his scoring receptions occurred during the third quarter, with strikes from 42, 44 and 64 yards out.
Fitzpatrick's efforts helped the team run away with a 31-14 victory over Bergen Catholic. He leads St. Peter's in receptions this season and also serves as a shutdown defensive back.
Alabama is expected to utilize him at cornerback, where he is rated fourth nationally in 247Sports' composite rankings. He also considered offers from Florida State, South Carolina and Penn State.

If Payne goes to Auburn I wouldn't want him anyway. Good luck in a 4-3 as a 350 pound defensive tackle. Especially since he will be a starter in 2 years at Bama.

Good Lord at those stats

According to a Free article from 247:
Early Enrollees:
Alabama always adds several midyear graduates in every class. The extra semester on campus allows the newcomers to get their feet wet during the spring, allowing for more of a stress-free environment before the season commences. Several current Alabama commitments have indicated their intent to enroll early, including five-star wide receiver Calvin Ridley, five-star quarterback Blake Barnett, five-star safety Deionte Thompson, running back Desherrius Flowers, safety Ronnie Harrison, as well as offensive linemen Dallas Warmack and Brandon Kennedy. A few other remaining targets such as FSU defensive tackle commit D.J. Jones and defensive end Kyle Phillips also plan to enroll early at the school of their choice.

TIDE ‘FELL IN LOVE’ WITH DAVIS ON TAPE
John Garcia Jr.
Recruiting Analyst
Alabama is the No. 1 team in the land, it has the No. 1 recruiting class in 2015 and is set to play its biggest game of 2014 on Saturday. However, it is still on the ground in recruiting, even getting in the game late for an electric play-maker in the Sunshine State on Sunday. Ryan Davis details his newest offer and much more inside.
Today’s college football enables new prospects to emerge seemingly daily, and it remains true in recruiting from the top programs on down.
The notion was on display Sunday, as Alabama pulled the trigger on three-star senior wide receiver projection Ryan Davis, a constant head-turner at St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood High School.
“It was very good news for me. It felt great to hear that I have an offer from Alabama,” he said. “It shows that my hard work is paying off…to have an offer from a school like Alabama, with the athletes, with what they produce in the NFL, is a great feeling.”
The Crimson Tide coaching staff has been aware of Davis’ talent for some time, but there was a feeling that he wanted to remain at quarterback (where he primarily plays at LHS) at the next level despite a 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame. Once the 2015 star debunked the thought, Lane Kiffin and company hit the gas pedal.
“I sent them my receiver film and also my highlight film from this year, and they fell in love with it,” he said. “I’ve been talking to them a lot this month. I heard from Coach Kiffin today, and he had some good news. He talked about me playing the slot position, moving me around a little bit, to do some of the stuff they do with Amari (Cooper) like the bubble screens. Plus punt and kick returns, things to get the ball in my hands.
“(At) The old Alabama, I wouldn’t fit in well. But the way they’re going now, they’re spreading it out more, taking shots down the field like more of a spread team while pounding the ball. I can see myself in that offense and the way they roll with it now. “
A high-profile receiver like Cooper, who is also from Florida, on campus only helps Davis recognize the difference with Kiffin’s version of Nick Saban’s offense. He says he’s studied the tape within his evaluation of the program.
“He’s putting up bigger numbers now,” he said of the former Miami (Fla.) Northwestern standout. “In previous years, he was getting only four or five catches a game. Now, he’s getting nine or 10 and putting up crazy numbers. I could see how much the offense can transform a player.”
Though excited about the new offer, Davis remains in the earlier stages of the recruiting process. He’ll take all five of his officials after the season, and focus on those schools. At this time, though, as many as 10 schools are still in the running for his commitment and subsequent signature.
Florida, Florida State, Maryland, Kentucky, Texas Texas, Kansas State, Ole Miss, West Virginia were listed, along with Alabama. He expressed scheme as the most important factor in selecting a school, with location not being “too much” of a priority.
Davis, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 52 wide receiver on Scout, says he could visit Tuscaloosa both officially and unofficially before making a final decision.
