I actually like it ... always thought that when they adopted the "Chase" format, that there should have been some form of elimination races to get to a final race between 2 to 4 drivers. The points system just did not fit the concept of the Chase in my opinion. Actually looking forward to Daytona this year! Already getting the RV ready!

I like it to. Obviously, NASCAR is desperate......and this is probably a response to the robot Jimmy Johnson helping kill the sport by dominating, but it sounds pretty exciting.
Especially qualifying. They're gonna do it in packs all at the same time if I understand correctly. Which should be nuts.......

I really think it should be 4 drivers and total over 2 races. 1 race, winner take all, out of 4 drivers seems a tad much. that means over 10% of the automatic drivers (35) have a chance at winning 1 race and winning the cup. i know, i know, they have to earn their spot as 1 of the 4, but would like to see the top 4 be over 2 races, not just 1.

The best part is that Chase spots will be earned by wins instead of bullshite points........

Correct. There will be knock out phases with a 5 min intermission.
"Each driver entered in the race will be on the track during the opening qualifying session, with NASCAR eventually cutting the group to the 12 fastest drivers who will determine who wins the pole. The 12 drivers in the final group will start 1-12 in the race."

Yeah, NASCAR TV ratings have been dwindling the last few years, plus the race day attendance is down at a many of the tracks, they had to do something to re-spur interest in the sport. I don't watch ever race on TV; but do catch a few, and attend maybe 3 or 4 races a year. This year looking at possibly both Daytona races (the 500 for certain), the Aaron's 499 at Dega, the finale at Homestead. Considering the All Star race and one of the Bristol races ... but not sure about those as of yet.
