When asked about the difference between Vanderbilt, his former employer, and Penn State, Franklin said values. At Vanderbilt, which is in the SEC, Franklin says the top priority was always football.

"They don't make any excuses or try to justify, that's really their reason for existence," Franklin says.

At Penn State, Franklin says there's an emphasis on education and an athlete receiving a well-rounded experience. Additionally, with recruiting, he says his goal is to capture student athletes that are going to be "great fits here socially as well as academically."

That dang Vandy football factory.

Franklin - speaks only the truth.

It sure takes some balls to claim the school that covered up multiple child molestations has better values.

Out of every school in the country, he lands at the one school that has absolutely no claim to putting the interests of others over football

My thoughts as well. What a stupid thing to say.

That's literally like Nick Saban taking the Navy job and saying "man, I'm glad I'm finally at a place that cares about football. All Alabama fans and administration cared about was academics."

You haven't heard about the coach that was molesting little boys and the administration covered it up? That's what I think of when I think Penn State.

First I've heard THAT. Ah, you're joking. I get it now. No school would have ever done that, and if they did, Franklin never would've said what he did.

If I'm a Vandy grad I'm pretty pissed at that guy right now. He leaves one of the top academic institutions in the south, poaches all of their recruits, and then slams them as a football factory.

Wow.

It appears that everyone is now seeing this guy for the phony douche that he's always been.

If the staged locker room reality show camera angle pep talks weren't giveaways.

Does the appearance of the wife still influence his assistant coaching hires?
