I come in peace, Piggies. Mad Props to those great teams. After his catastrophic exit, and with the passage of time, what do you guys think about Nolan?

I love him. I think most hog fans (sane ones) appreciate him very much.

He had every right to lash out before they fired him.

His recruiting became lazy though.

I just wish he would have been the bigger man and not pulled out the race card.

He won a NC and was getting paid less than Houston Nutt.. smh..

Glad to hear that. I wasn't sure if he was held in high esteem or not.

Race deal sealed his fate with most supporters. The donors are proud of what he did but we got in such a crappy spot because of him. Great coach, screwed up his legacy with that pr stunt

Love me some Nolan! One of the most respected coaches of his time. I remember him telling the story of Larry Johnson walking up to him (after Todd Day threw a pathetic attempt at a punch at LJUBLJANA). Johnson told Nolan "Go get yourself a man, my man" , so Nolan responded by signing Corliss Williamson.

This.

Loved Nolan until the lawsuit, which soured a lot of people on him for a long time. However, time (and losing) heals all wounds, though a few of our dim bulbs won't ever forgive him. He did get pretty lazy in recruiting and Heath had a hell of a job ahead of him when he took the job.

He did put us in an extremely tough spot with is comments and the suit he filed, but I think his time in exile was pretty tough on him and he rather enjoys being the old coach at the games now, especially now that a protege of his is in charge. He likes taking pictures with and signing autographs for fans. Jeff Long has done a lot to build those bridges back and should be commended for it.

Why wouldn't he be?

He is still the only coach to ever win a JUCO NC, the NIT, and a NCAA NC.

i think his legacy is still intact. he reacted badly but that doesn't tarnish one thing he did, imo.

nolan has had a hard life. the good he did for us greatly outweighs any moments of temporary rage he may have had.

Agreed. I don't buy the "his legacy is tarnished" stuff because it's a kneejerk reaction. Petrino's legacy was/is tarnished -- Nolan was just exiled for a while.

Nolan is pretty much a man about town around Fayetteville and at home basketball games now and seems to be rather enjoying it.

I liked those teams. They were fun to watch.

I remember watching yuns beat us at Hearnes one year.

When 40 mins. of hell was on point it was something to behold.

I was just thinking about posting the same thing.
