By football team members (allegedly). Apparently it was know by the athletic department and covered up and not reported to police. It's on espn ticker right now. Is this a big story around Columbia? What's the story? SIAP

Man, imagine watergate and Benghazi mixed together in one ultimate cover up.

That's what happened

There have been 3 other threads about this since Friday. In a nutshell, the girl claims that in 2/2010 she went to a football player's apt and had consensual sex with him, but afterward was rapes by another player who came into the room. She was drunk, thought it was 1 player but her friend says it was 3. She did not report it to anyone at the time except for telling a friend. The friend, also a player, confronted the guys involved but did nothing else because she didn't want to pursue it. That summer, she hurt her back and couldn't swim; she was no removed from the team, but told to take time off and get healthy. She had been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and was in counseling. In 12/2010, she emailed an online rape counselor, and saved the chat transcript.

In 3/2011, she broke up with her boyfriend; in April, she tried to commit suicide, but was found and hospitalized. She told the medical personnel she had been raped. They couldn't disclose die to hipaa. Her parents wanted to take her for inpatient treatment in Boston, and worked with an academic advisor for the swim team; she withdrew from school. In her journal, she wrote that she called this advisor to talk about coming back to Mizzou, and claimed she told her she had been raped. The advisor says she was not told. The young woman tragically killed herself in 6/2011 while in treatment in Boston. Her parents learned of the rape when they read her journal after she died.

Supposedly she had a tape of the alleged assault and mailed it to her football player friend a few days before she died; he has since "lost" the tape. Mizzou says they first learned of the alleged rape when her parents filed a records request as they found the chat transcript with the tape counselor in her saves emails. They did not launch an investigation, but wrote I her parents asking if they wanted an investigation and if they had more info. Parents have never responded.

Since she never reported the rape, or told anyone who could have helped her pursue it, Mizzou did not investigate it. Until the ESPiN not piece, they had no idea who was involved, where it occurred, etc. Mizzou does not have her journal, or this tape, or anything else.

If that was TL;DR, go find one of the other threads for more info. This is an ESPiN hit piece. They are exploiting a mentally ill, tragic girl for ratings. FWIW, I don't doubt that she may have been raped. But she didn't tell anyone who could have helped.

facepalm

(and that facepalm is directed at you, confused OP, not our AD)

Yeah and whats so sick about this is that ESPiN knows we live in a TL;DR society of soundbites and short attention spans and drive by news and are counting on that to hit countless folks like OP and jog their interest looking for a big cover up/scandal that doesn't exist. I'm for an actual examination of issues and fair discussion about it, and CNN's piece on it is more along those lines. The ESPiN approach on the other hand is just sick.

I couldn't agree more, ATX. ESPiN knows exactly what they're doing, and it's not about getting justice for Sasha; it's about ratings, creating a controversial story and increased revenues via AD sales. If they cared about getting justice for rape victims assaulted by football players, the Notre Dame and Jameis Winston stories would have promoted the same in-depth, OTL investigation.

So, she looked mixed, but her family is white. Was she addopted or was mom sleeping with the help?
