He says he's most likely not signing on National Signing Day and is taking visits to State and LSU.

What do the Bama guys know about him? Is he really looking around or just wanting to take some visits?

Ahhhh. Y'all don't want to sign and place him?

If that's the case I doubt State takes him either because we don't have the extra spots to waste on sign and place guys with this already being a small class.

LSU will not be an option because he won't qualify

I thought small classes were perfect for sign and place because you have plenty of room in the 25 but they don't count against the 85.

He might visit and be a S&P for LSU

We will see

Bama is after Miami Commit Chad Thomas and/or Boston. There are actually a couple kids Bama is looking at in case he doesn't make it

The quotes from his pops were either lies or mislead by the writer. LSU has never been interested in Smith. Hes a NT and we don't use those. Add in that he won't qualify (we told Bama fans this when he committed) and its all moot. I'm not gonna bash the kid because I think he's talentes but he's not worth mentioning in regards to LSU.

A grade issue helps us because it's easier to get into MSU than Alabama(not sure when the new NCAA limits kick in?).

Would be great to have a 2nd true NT to give us even more flexibility with formations. If Nick James can keep his head screwed on straight -- we should be hell against the hurry up with all the true hybrid players we'll be trotting out there.

Thanks for the responses. Wasn't aware of the grade problem.

just curious, if a guy like him doesn't qualify does he still contribute to the class rankings?

You sign them knowing they will go to junior college. Very similar to asking a girl to go to senior prom when you are both sophomores knowing she is about to move to another state.

lol Bucc, LSU has never and never will offer this kid. 'Grats to Bama on processing him out before even signing, though.

Sonny on Geaux247 said there are grade problems. Watts on BOL said that those close to him said he had a good senior year and is expected to qualify. The reason OJ's dad gave for possibly looking around is early playing time. He was our first DL commit, and since then we've picked up three more DT.

Didn't he say he would know something by Thursday? That's probably related to Elam committing. Markell Boston said he would also know if he had a scholarship by Thursday.

I think so, but that didn't come from BOL. The dad mentioned three times that his son wanted to go where he could play right away.

Yeah interest seemed to be a little one sided especially considering his position
