Interesting angle on conference realignment. For those of you still doubting the expansion strategy and who believe that adding FSU, or Clemson, or the effing longhorns would help the conference, you are double wrong.

As if any of you need any more convincing, look at the number of potential TV sets. This is where the $$$ and power starts to pay off and separate the SEC from any and all other conferences, almost combined. Of the Top 25 state population, adding a Virginia and a North Carolina school would do this:

2. Texas
4. Florida
8. Georgia
10. North Carolina
12. Virginia
17. Tennessee
18. Missouri
23. Alabama
24. South Carolina
25. Louisiana

(and 26. Kentucky for shits and giggles)


But also having, having footing in the States of Virginal and North Carolina would give the SEC the #8 and #9 states with the most high school talent. That would give the SEC 7 of the top 10 most talented states, ranking as follows:

1. Florida
2. Texas
4. Georgia
6. Alabama
7. Louisiana
8. Virginia
9. North Carolina

So, in sum, adding a Virginia and a North Carolina school would not only lock in 7 of the top 10 recruit-rich states, but also bring in 18 million new potential viewers.
