Vandy’s defensive staff is sick. Dorrell guiding the offense is strong. Mason really has done a nice job for first time HC.

Derek Mason has added longtime NFL vet and former Titans DBs coach Brett Maxie as secondary coach. Impressive

Mason has done a great job very quickly and may be able to salvage the disaster class Franklin created.

Has Dorrell said yet what kind of offense he is going to implement? Is he going to stick with the west coast or mix in some pistol read option with all of the Ohio influences on the offensive staff?

Very, very nice. Congrats. I always pull for Vandy outside of LSU games.

Per the Tennessean on Dorells offense:

Dorrell said his background in the West Coast and other systems will influence his offense here, but he will draw from other coaches on the staff and make the best use of his personnel.

“The Vanderbilt offense is what we’re building,” Dorrell said. “It’s going to be our offense. It’s going to be a well thought-out plan.

“I want to be balanced. The run game has to be something that they try to take away from us. And we have to be able to throw the ball. Both give you an element to control the game if you do both of those things well.”

I hope this works-out well for Vandy ... and y'all beat UGA and Mizzou like red-headed step children every year.

Mason, Kotulski, and Thompson all have experience as DCs, so I have no doubts about that side of the ball. Dorrell is a big hire, and I'm nervously optimistic to see what the offense is going to look like.

I can fap to that. But, then, I can fap to just about anything that appears to be even remotely good news for our program.
