I thought our team was coached very poorly this year. However, coaches don't forget how to coach. A lot of it had to do with the fact that we had crap at QB, WR, and pretty much the entire defense with the exception if the d-line at times. He's got to get some better players on campus, and I'm not really confident that he's killing it on the recruiting trail. I think we will be much more competitive next year, and we will some games that we aren't supposed to. If he can get some top 20 classes into Fayettville, we will be just fine.

I'm extremely confident his offensive system will work in the SEC. It's all going to come down to what he does with the defense. I saw them improving enough technique wise towards the end of the year that I believe he will be here for awhile.

It's going to take some time, I think at least until all of the Petrino players are rolled off the roster. The stink of a disaster like that can't help but taint everyone associated with it.

By the time this freshman class are Seniors I think we'll have a much different type of team than we shuttled out there the last 2 seasons.

He's going to have to do better on the recruiting trail and actually land some highly regarded uber athletes. There were plenty of head scratchers in the coaching decisions before and during the season and even during the games.

I said before the season that our success will lay on the shoulders of QB play and that pretty much played out, but the defense was a clusterfrick from personnel to scheme to audibles to execution and tackling. If they can't get the defense right it really won't matter what they do on offense because we don't have the players or depth to outscore anyone. We'll be built to play sound fundamental smart football, but it remains to be seen if he can bring in those types of players that have it in all 3 phases, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

He may be waiting on hiring his guy so he can take advantage of the befits in recruiting when you're short a coach

No one officially hired yet but according to the recruiting guys our recruits have been told who it is going to be.

The common belief is that Randy Shannon is going to be promoted once his settlement agreement runs out with Miami next weekend.

No clue of that is actually true or not.

do you think he can though? and that it would make a difference when most west teams are dominating recruiting?

just for a reference, these are the current national rankings of west teams

1. Alabama
3. LSU
5. Texas A&M
7. Auburn
13. Ole Miss
32. Arkansas
39. Mississippi State

Of course a top 20 class consistently would make a difference.

9. He's nearly the perfect coach to rebuild us. I think other coaches we could have hired needed to inherit a loaded roster to be successful.

He's starting on the lines and building the team outward, our Oline is going to be ridiculous.

He's probably going to struggle for another year or two to win games because the complete overhaul in the mindset of the program.
