quote:

You mention people wanting you to be the “hometown hero,” but even if you choose Auburn, you won’t automatically be that guy, right?

Evans: “That’s the thing. Let’s say I did go to Auburn, it would be like high school all over again, like I got a microscope on me because I’m here. Everybody here that is involved with football, they know me. The fact I came out of Auburn High School and I were to go to Auburn, I have no other choice but to be successful. It would almost be like people would see me as a disgrace to Auburn if I were to not be like everybody plans to make me. They’re really putting me on a pedestal right now. They’re like ‘We’re giving you the fame, the features, all this. Don’t screw up.’ It’s a lot of pressure, man. It’s a lot of pressure.”

Do you feel there would be that kind of pressure if you chose Alabama?

Evans: “Yeah. I don’t think it would be as much, but at the same time I’m in Alabama. I got other family members that are in Alabama, too. They’re waiting on that decision, too. They’re waiting to see if he can go against the grain, do something different. A lot of people are like, ‘You can change Alabama’s defense. You can be that guy they never had, that pass-rusher, the guy who can get to the quarterback.’ That’s what a lot of people are looking for me to do. … To be honest with you, I think a little bit with UCLA people. There’s not really a lot of UCLA fans here, but some people are like, ‘Maybe he can do something different. Maybe he could be that guy who actually took a risk, went out there to UCLA and took over.’ There’s a lot less pressure there. Every time I have a conversation with Auburn coaches and Alabama coaches, they really look at me and say this: ‘Don’t be afraid to go to either one of us, don’t be afraid to go to either one of us and then go to UCLA and it’s not really where you want to go.’ They know I got pressure on me. It’s obvious to everybody. Every time I do get a lecture on the school I should be going to, they all, at the end of the conversation they’re like, ‘OK, make the best decision for you,’ but at the same time they always end it with ‘War Eagle’ or ‘Roll Tide.’ They’re still going to sell it, but at the same time they know the pressure that’s on me. They want to sell it to me, but at the same time they don’t want to put me under so much pressure to where it’s, ‘Oh, you’re just selling. You’re not caring about my decisions or where I’m coming from.’ They want to have both, the best of both worlds. I think my whole situation is kind of like Reuben (Foster)’s, but different in many ways. But just the pressure thing, it’s about the same, to be honest with you, for me, because a lot of people are riding on me for this decision. It will be very interesting these next few weeks to see what happens.”

To be honest, he comes off like he was telling the truth when he said he wanted to get away from home.

We may end up being the compromise. Not hometown, but not far away in Cali.

Those comments are why that last visit to UCLA scares me. He can get away from a lot of this pressure by going out there.

The part about his dad was kind of sad though. You can tell he recognizes how good Bo was but just felt like he was lied too. Those are the stories that always get lost imo. Happens at every school, every year

Auburns probably doing the same thing to Rashaan. Telling him he can start right away imho. IF this is true that may hurt AU's chances considerably after what his dad said. He said Bama is telling him straight up that he will have to come in and go through the process and go from there

This is an interview from after his visit to Bama and with Saban. So we will have to see what his opinions are after this weekend's OV to Auburn. I think both staffs are telling him the same thing. They are both full of veteran recruiters that know how to talk to these kids.

He also said hes not going to hear a different pitch from Auburn while hes there and that he knows everything already. There pitch won't be totally different from when the started recruiting him nor will Bama's but UCLA on the other hand...

Nodody told Alan Evans he would start right away. He was unfortunate to be in the same class with a Heisman winner and a 10 year NFL Player. That is why he should know about getting buried in the depth charts, even if you are told you will have a chance to compete. If playing time is a factor, he just needs to look at the depth charts to make a decision.

I wouldn't put your faith in him. He is guessing no differently than anyone else.

Oh and at the dude saying it is between UCLA and Auburn.

He would have NO pressure at UCLA--big city, laid-back fans....the exact opposite of staying in Alabama, where all people talk about, it seems, is college football, 24/7/365.

Some Southern boys like Hollywood, others don't fit there at all.....

Of course, maybe he will totally shock the world and decide that LA is too far from home, but he doesn't want the pressure of playing in his home state.....and will decide to commit to Ole Miss this weekend, after all

How does that eliminate BAMA? I'd say it means he'll know whether or not to eliminate UCLA after the visit.

He said after the Auburn OV that he felt that what our coaches told him about how the Star position would work with him playing it now puts it even with what he was thinking about the position Bama told him about all last weekend. Which was Bama's biggest selling point.

He also said that the Auburn recruits came and showed that they really cared about him and were not just recruiting him which wasn't the case with Bama. So its more than just the coaches telling him he can come in and start right away.
