WOMEN's BASKETBALL that is....

Our team that got routed in their own building by unranked Auburn, proceeded to beat... in Lexington, the #8 Kentucky Wildcats 57-55.

While we were all busy watching Florida dangle hope infront of the the men, that happened.... woah.

Roll Tide Ladies! At least someone got in the spirit of 90s Night. Party like it's 1998!

Crimson Tide gets its first win in Lexington since 2002 and first win on the road against a top-10 team since 1998

is women's basketball a big thing at Kentucky? Because I found a gamethread for what should have been a lopsided affair in an relatively ignored sports. ASeaOfBlue.com Bama vs UK thread.

I watched them play Auburn and I don't see how it's possible they could beat anyone. I lost all respect for women's basketball that day

The biggest 'wtf' about this is..........

Alabama was without leading scorer Shafontaye Myers due to disciplinary reasons.

Aren't there softball threads on here from time to time, which is probably less popular than WBB. So what is your point?

I have been to MANY women's basketball and softball teams the last 5-6 years. The only time Women's BBall would crack 1,000 fans was the yearly 11AM game where they bring all the 5th grade A/B honor roll students in Tuscaloosa to the game. Hell, there were several non conference games where there were more people in the pep band (30-40 people) than there were spectators in the stands. Softball puts 3,000+ in the stadium multiple times a year. Foster Auditorium doesn't even seat 3,000.

Yeah. Bama softball is way more popular than WBB. By a country mile.

I think we average over 6,000 fans a game.

Our women's game vs. Duke in Rupp was a sell out.

I'm not talking about just at Alabama, I'm talking nationally.

If UA had a decent women's team then you beat people would show up...but who wants to see that train wreck...Softball is not as big as WBB nationally.

Why so aggresive? That's our big thing here but not muchwhere else. I just wanted to know if WBB was one of Kentucky's big things? geez.

UK I think holds a Top 10 all time attendance record (almost 24,000) for a regular season non conference game in Rupp. I think they are also Top 10 in national attendance for WBB this season - which is impressive as they are limited by Memorial only holding about 8,000 per game.

While not the same draw as the men, the women draw better than many men's college basketball teams. Congrats to the Tide on the game as they did what nobody seems to have done so far in limiting the score. UK has been averaging in the 70's or 80's for the season and neither team broke 60.
